Outlaw is a good one, daytekker, I can recommend it.
I've not got much planned so far. Just a couple of trail marathons then I'll start to plan for next year. Thames Trot in February, and possibly the SDW 100 if I think I'm up to it. Plus Dave wants to do a two day version of a BG round, so that would be good.
Tiago - If you are thinking of a 100 then the SDW is a great one to do. The trail is one of my favourites. The 2 day BGR sounds like fun, the lakes are fantastic for running and the BGR route takes in some great parts of it. I have only have the pleasure of running the first 2 legs and some of the 3rd.
At last! I finally managed to get that link to work. My PC at home has some damn pop-up blocker that prevents all sorts of things working, this must be one of them.
Lou, yes that's a very good question about where the Christmas FA will take place. Maybe it is worth just like for a reasonably central trail event that's happening in December and us entering that? Not an FA, I know, but might be the simplest solution.
Or we could take 10 gels each before we set off and light it up!... A steady recce sounds good to me. I know a lot of the course but will be going over it at least twice more in total before the race to confirm it in my mind.
Well one of my all time favourite events is the mightcontainnuts 40 in the Brecon Beacons at the beginning of December, I know Dill is doing it too so that's two of us already. Otherwise the Arthur Newton 100 just before Christmas
Haven't ran in Dorset before but know the CTS are well organised on brutal courses, having done the MCN series for a couple of years now I'd recommend them every time, brilliant courses through some stunning scenery organised by a bunch of us who really love the sport
If I'm going to be sensible and NOT go for Comrades next year but concentrate on training for Lakeland 50 after doing London Marathon, anyone got any suggestions for something else in the 30-40 mile range I could do in between? Preferably trail, preferably on a Sunday.
I'm thinking it might not be sensible to go for Comrades when (a) I'll probably still be recovering from London just when I should be putting in my longest training runs for Comrades; (b) my "A" goal for next year is Lakeland 50 so I need to make sure I've got time to spend training on trails for that, not trying to get my road mileage up.
The MCN40 sounds good, but a few logistical queries:
1. Is it reachable by train or do we need to drive? 2. If the accommodation fills up is there anything else nearby? 3. Are we likely to need headtorches etc? I don't have one yet, as I haven't done any night events.
Good man Spen, right that's at least three of of, four if WiB comes along too.
Rosemary its not reachable by train but I'm
Icing up a friend of mine from a station nearby on the night, no reason I can't come get you too. The accommodation is a hostel at the start line, there's usually space there but there's also plenty of b&bs in the village. You will need a head torch but if you don't have one yet I'd be happy to lend you one for the race.
I'm entering GUCR, WSER and UTMB for next year with my fingers crossed at getting in one of them. Lakeland 100 was going to be my reserve choice but at the rate it's selling out i've got to decide now..
Might have to enter and stomach the 50% fee if i have to pull out.
Well I'm definitely in for UTMB next year, I'll stick in an application for States just for a shot with the intention of doing the Laverdo Ultra Trail if I don't get in so Lakeland just doesn't fit in for me
*Dill*... you could always wait until entries are full and get yourself top of the reserve list. You will get asked about April time and by then you shoudl know if you want to reject it?!
Lirish - I am going to put my name in the big hat for CCC so am only in for the 50 at lakeland.

Plus I am always looking for people to join me on recce runs of the SDW

I'd be up for that, WiB, if you need some practice at going slow.

Cool. My nephew is going to uni in Brighton, so it's a good excuse to make a visit. It's all down that way, right?
Yeah you could even detour to the Uni easily enough from the SDW without much extra running involved.
Rosemary, i think us all entering a Dec event is probably easiest way yes.
Looks good Lirish... torn between that and Dorset CTS for early december race!

100 ??????????? !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
....are you trying to kill me off before santa arrives?!
Mightcontainnuts Brecon Beacons for me. See you there LIrish!
I will be in the Arthur Newton 100, assuming I am still in any sort of fit state.

Lakeland 100/50 entries open.....
Damn I will not be able to afford to enter Lakeland50 yet. How quick does it sell?
Looks like it is going fast Spen! about 150 entries already.
Make that 200!
300 entries and counting for the Lakeland 50 - and mine is one of them!
Ah well will do Hardmoors instead!
I am in for the 50 this time...
O crap I really don't know what to do now!

You know it makes sense! Go for it!
Have you got a definite UTMB entry next year from missing out on the lottery for this year?
