Britrisky ,my overtime has changed and I am hoping to come over and recce the newby hall half iron for a 2013 entry , if it changes again , have a great race$
Citizen - I meant to say re: next year. This was a good event, considering it was put together on a shoe string with a £93 entry fee. Decent rucksack for taking part, and excellent feed stations on both bike and run routes, with Powerbars, gels, Gatorade, Coke and water. Would've liked a bespoke medal for all my efforts, though .
The camping was very basic and not that nearby - I had to cycle to transition with two bags in the dark in the morning! Also I missed a turning because there was a sign missing. The run route was about 50% off road, but mostly pretty and not rough.
The support at the hall was pretty good, considering the small scale nature of the event. The whole course was pretty near flat, so yes, I would recommend it to others, but don't expect the full IM/Outlaw experience because it is pretty low key at the moment, although this was its first year
Congratulations! my colleagues who are working at standard distance and are looking for a 2013 goal will be pleased. On the say of a pirate we will be entering next year, I am also down for wimbleball and Outlaw again to get the full pirate experience! Will nip over to the other thread whilst it is quiet on the night shift, but ''off road'' !!!
Citizen very relieved to see someone else thinking of the half then Outlaw. I was getting worried that it may all be too much in too short a space of time. Now it seems like there are no excuses.
I always think that the pro's may need a break in order to compete effectively but for mere pirates the world is our oyster, do what we want when we want!
I've pre-registered for Outlaw 2013 - never done a tri before but I can run 3 miles and cycle 30 so I'll be alright eh? . Bit of training and some swimming lessons in order before I shell out and sign my life away but hope to be there...
Buy yourself a copy of "Be Iron Fit" by Don Fink it gives you all the training plans and lots of other useful info, you can get it off Amazon. Welcome to the slippery slope of Triathlon and don't come moaning on here when you have spent your life savings on Tri gear and a blingy bike.....;-)
you've done more than me! face is still sore (sinus infection) but I am now in possession of some happy pills and may well tread the streets again tomorrow
I swam today and did my first ever yoga session...i am going for a complete programme this time around ..............it took me an hour to do 2k though
Thread hijack to say that I am hoping to send off a kit order at the end of October. There may not be sufficient interest for another order until this time next year so if you are debating kit, now may the the time to pop over to the kit thread and put your name down.
PS. It is unlikely that another kit order will be going in before Lanza 2013. Similarly I cannot guarantee an order before Outlaw or Challenge (it all depends on interest)
Eric Banana Man,, My wedding anniversary is 6 July, thanks for reminding me. This could put the scuppers on the whole escapade. ((insert sad face image thing here))
Do people really celebrate anniversaries.......unless its a silver or a gold...................surely every day that you are married is a reason to celebrate........not just once a year........I hate the whole card industry thing that makes everyone think they have to make a big deal of a everyday thing.

Hi Rustman
You're in a better position than me. I start cycling lessons on Monday, one of the few that never learnt to ride a bike when younger.
So welcome aboard.

Seren - swimming is over-rated. It's all about the bike.
Provided that you actually get to have a go on the bike at all.
I swam today and did my first ever yoga session...i am going for a complete programme this time around ..............it took me an hour to do 2k though
