Vixx - Hoping to run about 1.55 (which would be an 11 min PB!)
XL - Big turnout there! parkrun is going from strength to strength. For the areas that dont have them I hope they branch out in 2013 as you seem to get one parkrun then another 5 miles down the road. There are however still areas in the UK that dont have one for 100+ miles. It must be very frustrating if you fall into that category.
SJ - Great XC. Are you concentrating on 5/10K this year?
OS - Congrats on your 6th place.
Well done Shielsy on todays effort, you falling in to mens arms at the finish, whatever next!?
Yes i am planning to pb at 5k and 10k this year and then GNR. Keeping focused on speed and track work and may even give the track season a go for once,i quite fancy the steeple chase !
My year ahead is a funny one in that I intend to try for some PB's but will also be running some slower races to help my 23 year old daughter get into races. She has always done gym work and played hockey but never ran a race before. She set her target this year to do GNR - she has watched me on numerous occasions and even interviewed me after the 2011 race when she was doing her journalism course through the Chronicle. It should be great as I have played Cricket and golf wit my son but never done any sport with my daughter so really looking forward to it - she is aimimg to do a sub 2hr so not too slow.
I am aiming to go for a PB at Lydd half (sub 1:38), a PB at BUPA London 10K (sub 43mins) and then a Marathon PB at either Manchester or York (sub 3:52) really want a sub 3:50.
Similar targets to me there bearsted. My 10k pb is 42:44 from april 2010, aiming for a sub 42 although a drunken bet at clubs award night last week had be agreeing to a sub 40 attempt !!!!!
Also going for a sub 1:35 half and that ever elusive sub 20 5k !
Its pretty snowy here, club grand prix cancelled so went out for a 4 miler with my new yaktraxs strapped onto my shoes. People slipping and sliding all over the ice and snow and i was running past no problems, very very cold but all fun !
I think we have missed the snow in Kent but who knows. I have a 7 mile easy run tomorrow so I really don't want to do that on treadmill so here's hoping snow stays away
Well I managed 9 miles on the treadmill tonight. I would normally just run outside but I had to do a tempo bit in the middle which would have been impossible . It had got incredibly icy between me going into the gym and coming out again so the temp must really have dropped. I guess I'll be back at the gym tomorrow too.
Well done Fiona - my session was 7 miles on treadmill don't know whether I could have done 9 was getting bored already - but was 4 x 1 mile at speed with 3 min recoveries
Indeed we have penguins. I'm taking a drive to Goose Green on Friday and San Carlos (where the ships harboured in '82) and then off to see more foul smelling penguins.
Nearly 6 miles on the treadmill tonight. It was -4 when I left at 9.45, think there may be another couple of night runs at the gym before Brass Monkey on Sunday!
Not a great start to the day . Got a text from my brother (the one who lives in York) to say that he and my sis-in-law have decided to come up this weekend so he'll leave the house key with a neighbour.
So that means my Brass Monkey weekend in York will largely be spent completely on my own - I got train tickets to arrive in York 2pm Saturday and to leave 6pm Sunday evening. It also means I'd be making my own way to and from the train station, and to and from the race venue.
And with the weather being how it is (-5 for us this morning with ice everywhere) it may well be that the race is cancelled on the day anyway. Normally that wouldn't be too disappointing as I'd still have spent the weekend in York with family, gone out for pub meals, whatever ... but since they won't be around anyway, I'm just wondering if it's worth the risk.

My little man has only ever left me for dead. So I haven't asked him out to play for along time now
I don't run with mine either. He beat me too often.... :S

Hi James - That'll be a great effort - hope you can do it and I will be behind you alllllllll the way (literally)
I'm hoping to crack a few PBs this year. Won't be fussed if I don't because of the sheer stupidity of the races I am going to be doing.
Thank you spongecake
I hope so
I've been told I should be able to register from about 7.30am so will get there and do that as soon as I can

No running for me ... didn't go out either to club or running by myself. All the slushy snow has turned to ice - and I've no Yaktraks.
It's minus 1 where I live - I'm wrapped up in fleecy pjs, a fleecy robe and a fleecy blanket, the heating's on ... and I'm still freezing.
I'm gutted as we have had no snow here in Manchester. What's the betting I get up in the morning to go back to Birmingham and it has snowed
What's this chat about snow? It's crystal clear blue sky with unbroken sunshine and temperature of 18 degress here.
Falkland Islands. Although to be honest, i'd rather be home and struggling through the ice and snow!
but you've got penguins !
The world's gone crazy.
9 and 7 miles on the treadmill. Well done you two. That would melt my brain.
Indeed we have penguins. I'm taking a drive to Goose Green on Friday and San Carlos (where the ships harboured in '82) and then off to see more foul smelling penguins.
We had the crystal clear blue sky and sunshine. It's just that the temperature was 18 degrees lower than yours! It's minus 5 now!

Looks like come Friday/Saturday we could be very white down here. My 10 miler at weekend is looking potentially like a treadmill session
