I'm not thinking about using it in video mode - rather let it take a still picture every 15 secs or so. Not enough battery life for 4 - ish hrs of video.
The whole meal was awesome. Cesar salad to start, then a 12 ounce Filet Mignon with black truffle butter, eggplant fries, lemon and feta rissoto and a mixture of lima beans, vidalia onion and garlic. Yummy (but I only ate part of the sides). Then creme brulee for desert. One beer.
Sounds more like a post race meal, not a pre-race one!
Thanks ladies, will see if I can hold out in the line Sunday - always feel so much better if i can get one straight after, otherwise the Hammam sounds pretty lush
Cheers DV, I've just been messing about really. If anyone's a star round here, it's ATM. The unseen help she gives anyone and everyone at the drop of a hat is inspiring. We don't notice half the time as she's beavering away behind the scenes on email, but she must spend hours making sure we're all sorted. Thanks ATM, it's greatly appreciated
Here here! ATM is particularly amazing, but to be honest, you're all pretty special. Thanks for making me feel less crazy about this whole lark
Talking about sensational baked goods, this year I've seen raspberry and white choc HXBs doing the rounds, but last year's mocha ones were pretty spesh. mmmmm, making me hungry just thinking about em!!
Morning........another gorgeous one but still feel like I have been hit by a bus despite sleeping all evening and night??? Had a major carb load last night as I was sooooo hungry I thought I maybe just needing a boost?? I'll have to run the marathon today to balance that oot Maybe things catching up with me......hopefully nothing more sinister.......
Could be a phantom taper illness Kaz. RR and myself had convinced ourselves we had a virulent strain of bubonic plague last year, and only lost the mirage at the Saturday meal when we realised we, like everyone else, were as mad as a box of frogs.
Clag - what club do you run for? There's probably a number of clubs around the country in yellow/black but wondered if it was Knavesmire?
DLR/Maus - I've decided to go 'No Belt' this time, but rather using a neoporene camera case which I put 2 fingers through the belt loop and it straps to my hand nicely. I used it in my last semi and liked it a lot. It holds my asthma inhaler, 2 gels and 2 rehydration satchets, and a small bit of tissue, just in case nature calls. http://www.ebay.com/itm/300850221049
That might be an interesting option for Berlin. My plan for Paris had been to ditch the belt and just carry 3/4 packs of shotbloks in my hands or tuck a couple of packs in my sexy arm warmers.
Simon - it is possible to run a marathon with pf but I wouldn't recommend it. Stretch, roll and massage your calves like a mad stretching rollering massaging thing to get rid of any knots and that may help.
As a seemingly chronic sufferer since November, rolling the arches of the feet will help too. The nuclear option (that makes OROD feel like the Duncan Nouvelle of the self massage world) is to get a 2cm diameter kids bouncy ball and roll that into the worst affected parts but that might be a bit too much this close to Paris. For temporary relief try a bucket of cold water straight after runs or walking very far, and for rolling get a small mineral water bottle about 90% full and put that in the freezer in between rolling sessions.
Morning all.. it's a bit chilly, eh..? But no worries... because next weekend we'll all be in Paris and basking in the warmth of the sunshine, drinking champagne by the Seine, eating bread and pate and generally having a great time...
RR - whether I've got enough long runs who knows? I've done 6 between 19-21 and my overall speed has improved over this period, I think as I've done weekly reps and fortnightly hill reps. Previously it's always been suggested 3:50 ish but I've never made it. This is number 6, but it's been a couple of years since the last. I'm not really bothered in all honesty what I do.
DLR - Metro Aberdeen is my club. Others in the club may describe it as black & gold, and I think some of the older vests are more golden. Mine's definitely yellow!
Snow here again although only a light dusting. Having to fight the urge to go running today as I'm on hols and aside from doing some prep for next term I have no plans.
If I've clogged up the site then I'll delete the posts. What have these pictures to do with today's magic number ? Good Luck.
Clag - my idea is patented, I'm in the 4h pen with objective of 3h50. I plan to start slowly. You are a better runner than me, (your HM time, club member, more experience). If you are in the wrong pen then the slower runners could hinder you. You can switch pens at the Expo, go to the litige desk. Good luck.
Clag - what he said. With 6 x runs of around 20 miles you've more than done the endurance stuff. I'm also aiming for 3:50 (in the purple pen) and my other times are slower than yours.
YM - good call. Apparently Mimi Anderson gets her eyelashes dyed before a long race, and she a world record holder. And also a madwoman.
Kaz - totally agree with DLR about pre race bubonic plague. Make sure you're getting enough protein, and iron, along with your carbs.
What pace have you done your long runs at though RR? My concern is that this time they've been slower than previously, probably around 9:45 pace. That's why I struggle to see how I could then go to 8:45 pace all the way. :-/
Are we all collectively agreed that at the end of the marathon we'll all do a big O with our arms above our heads... in honour of Orbot... so that later, someone can assemble them all together into a little video..?
Comments
Have you tried it to see the results? Just wondering about seasickness.
Whoever shot the Asics movie last year must have done that, as there was the shot of the medal going over the head.
How was your steak?

Just to clarify....you put your foot in the bucket of cold water and you use the frozen bottle for rollering.

I too have sore heels, feels like tendons but I know it is from having tight calf muscles and a particulary big knot in the side of one??
We have had a blizzard since my last post......looks like a fun day ahead!!!
Londoners- enjoy your meet up/run today. Slightly jealous.

I have my Go Faster hairdye on my head right now. This is all I need, right?
Beautiful sunny day here....

Not sure if you've seen this - but the Paris Marathon people posted a superb pic as part of their 10 day countdown.
Couldn't insert it but here is the link
Yep I saw that Orbutt....plus the "River of Immense Pain" shot...
How comes Paris Marathon is D-10 and we're D-9 ? Do they count the actual days whereas we count in number of sleeps ?
