Finally this week has been a good week, better weather and more support from family about my going training. They've always been pretty good about it but had taken to ribbing me about it which was enough to send me off on a guilt trip but all is well again now.
It does mean I have had a busy week so I have the rest of today and all tomorrow free to spend with them.
But I feel good and just the long bike to go on Sunday. Fingers crossed for that as it's my first 100 mile ride. Got to be up at 5am to drive down to the start at Cambridge. It's sign posted and mainly marshaled but no GPS route so hope I don't get lost.
I had my gait video analysed last Saturday and it showed I was neutral rather than over pronating. My legs, knees and hips do very odd things l I land one foot in front of the other but my foot lands heel first and straight with my ankles and calves straight above it. Got some new Mizuno wave rider 16 shoes and used them twice now, so far so good am enjoying being less bulky than my Sauconys. Still wore the Sauconys for this mornings long run though.
Also good news is the local open water venues are planning to open on May 4th and the tri-club one has changed to be more beginner friendly, how lucky am I? Should be perfect now.
Well I've just put some new tyres on my bike so that forced me into practising. 20 mins but at least I vaguely know what I'm doing now so going to practise once a week til I can do it in 5.
Just need some open water swimming and I'll feel a bit more confident all round
I was moping around feeling bored this morning as OH had gone up to London.when i noticed on facebook that some NEWTS were going to swim in the sea in Barry and so i managed to tag along.the sea was cold but the sun was warm and I really enjoyed it and it was beautiful there.
getting ready for an early start to go and do a long bike tomorrow
Im off to see if i can get an on teh day entry to teh Manchester Chester Manchester sportive. I'll only be on the 60 miler as its a 4 hour day, so if I get back quicker than expected I can always ride home
Snail I feel like a slacker for binning off my 4 mile run after my century ride now! Bugger it I've done too much running this week will do more harm then good..... I had a fun 105 miler last 25 miles avg speed was 24.3 mph according too garmin I was absolutely going for it was doing 27 mph on the flat! And did just under 40 through a 30 speed camera ... Needless too say heart rate zones went out the window the last hour hello z3/4
I did it 105 miles cycled. I got a tad lost at one point! 8hr 19 mins total time 7hrs 19 mins moving time. First 50 was great fun the second one was harder as had headwind for a lot of it. Good practice though and a confidence boost.
Seren I came from a mountain bike background and the bike is by my strongest discipline and I have no fear of downhills il happily hit 50+ coming down the hill in Marlborough... Which incidentally was where I saw the advertisement for the white horse challenge.... Also I do about 250 miles a week at the moment and about 350 in the summer. Oh and my average for the 105 miles was only 18.6 mph which isn't fantastic for me but I'm blaming the wind lol!
Well done Ali bear I bet you feel good now though.... Just grit your teeth in headwind and talk to yourself like I do!
Done 11:09 at my first IM last year going 10:30 this year! Massive swim and run improvements have been made over the winter... Bike still roughly the same... As a triathlete/ironman nut I'm still reasonably young so lots of time I'm the grand old age of 26
I hope that everyone is staying for the monday for the party..
whilst it isn't the pirate champiuonships this year.....we can still have pirate awards......
so if you see any small pirate nicnacks in the next few weeks .then please feel free to buy and take along.
we can have sexiest legs and the mincing award.we can have fastest female and male pirtaes if we want.we can have any award that we want.......but we won't have the official shields as they will be used for the pirate championships....
