Crash Hamster, I wasn't trying to denegrate anyone's effort. For full disclosure I do ride 22 miles a day flat out in top gear to commute. And I enjoy running and do marathons to keep my hand in. There's nothing to say about the swim mind. Crap.
Was it just me or was it a bit warm this year?
See you there next year. Who fancies the Arch to Arc? If I could raise the cash I'd love to have a crack at that for my 50th. Bucketlist tri.
Obviously I mean the 'proper' one where you swim the channel, not the new one I've just noticed where you kayak it. Me. Swim the channel. *falls sbout laughing* Still, I'd love to try.
i fancy doing the Lands end to john o groats tri - been kicking the idea around twitter for awhile. bike clearly, but then swim the length of loch ness, windermere and bala and run / climb highest points in scotland, england and wales.
would be brutal - some soliders did it a while back.
I bow to the collective wisdom. I'd lost sight of where a noob starts from. I was thinking if a fat, useless old duffer like me can do it with a base level of fitness and a bit of grit then anyone can. It was my second, I've suddenly remembered the 9 months it took to go from my first half marathon to my first Outlaw. And worse, getting to thst first half. You were all right, I was totally wrong. Ignore me noobs.
As for the Arch to Arc, get me some funding and I'd be alk over that!

22 miles as a daily commute - an hour each way? - 10 hours bike training a week before even thinking of a training plan..... repeat for a year or two and thats excellent base training....
10 hours training a week will potentilly destroy a sedentry person....
Well, 10. 74 miles each way. I exagerated wildy to try and win approval. About 35 minutes. I've only been doing it this year, but that us tbe plan; to build a bit of fitness by degrees. But I'm through trying to encourage noobs. It's impossible Give up now.

The kayak one is on my bucket list. Thought a crack at the record bay be in order. Depends if you just want to complete or compete!! The bike is easily smashable, the kayak time not out of reach, just need to get into ultra running and again raise some cash.
Arch to arc "pirates storm the channel" The team raid sounds good. IMAGINE THE HEADLINES.
Kaz we need to get together with Pudge to work out the logistics of the entry thing. Can you pm your email addy and i''ll set up a group one to organise.
Potentially looking for marathon runner for a first timer who is doing the swim and bike bits. Any one interested? Waiting on someone to confirm/ let me down this week so can give confirmation soon to the interested party.

Swim the channel? Am I allowed to touch the bottom or hold the side if I get tired?

Nursey, you've obviously got to much time on your hands now that Outlaw is over
Forget the kayak, do it in a pedalo.
Yep .. pedalo has always been the pirate ambition
ask Barlos
there's some pedalo's near me shaped like a big swan, they would look great coming out of the mist towards France
Barlos, pedalo, and swan.
Now there is an interesting combo
Right
I can now can swim a mile in the pool in about 50 mins without feeling tired
I can cycle 60 miles
I've run a marathon
Outlaw 2014 #HowHardCanItBe?
You are a lot more further forward than many people have been at this stage in previous years ...
Buck, 18mph+ for 2x 10 miles a day should produce excellent results!
Graeme, that's a great place to start from.
I prefer this one!
see from the FB page that entries for next year are due to open 'early September' - what's the betting it's while I'm on hols?!
i cant wait.
looking at all the IMUK stuff yesterday got me all excited / terrified again

FF - I'm fairly certain that the 'lead athlete' can create a relay entry and then provide the details of the other participants at a later date.
Is that how it's done? Cheers mini M
