Sjpc I don't tend to do park runs, too short for me.. Much rather get a tough circuit in at gym, or Sat speed session with club. Sometimes both.
your 25 miler sounds like fun. Get some good recovery in this week, and have a kick back, Drop the mileage down. 10k course PB, your highest mileage week, and longest run is a fair bit to deal with.
oh, try doing hotlinks too, makes it easier. Just needs a little extra text even on phone or iPad.
mattl smoking hot 5k times.
laura, the Lancaster half is pretty good. gnw one a bit borIng. With Chester, wilmslow, Liverpool, Conwy, Helsby 4 villages, amongst others. lots to choose.
Idiot with a bucket list , don't recognise that event . There are a range of trail 10k/ halfs and marathons on though from Sept to May in NW area, delamere, rivington, grizedale, howgills. see site here.
thunder run video... Spanish? He's a scouser.
Steady two weeks for me, 3 speed sessions, lots of strength sessions & circuits, but dropping the mileage back to rest the legs a bit before upping for Oct ultras. Oh and September multi terrain league, 4 races one a week.
I was at the Preston one and there didnt seem as many as usual and the winning time down was down from its usual 16 mins and looking at the Cuerden Valley results it seems it was the same story there. Just wondering, if i missed a big loca race or not ?
if your chasing a PB I know I'm never in a position to notice if its scenic or not. why not try a fell race of something in the Lake District if your after nice views.
Morning everyone, not been on this thread since the early days as I've spent most of this year unable to run with a knee injury.
Anyways I just thought I'd mention a few talks I'm doing in Libraries in Lancashire about triathlon, it all starts this coming Monday night at Blackburn library. Please come along if you aren't out running - hopefully I'll be more entertaining than watching Corrie.
If you are interested the details are on my blog and if you aren't hopefully I'll see you at a race in 2014 when I should be fit enough to race again.
Knee injury hey ironholgs, thats depressing. i had runners knee a couple of years ago and that forced me to go without running for three months , very depressing times!!
I should be at your Blackburn talk and im very much looking forward to it.
Thanks mate - had serious issues stemming from a cracked patella which calcified the tendon, just couldn't do anything without pain. Had some great treatment and working really hard on rehab with a physio I trust. Only back up to running a few km at the moment but I'm very happy to be doing that.
Ouch!! Sounds bad! Just take it slowly , last months running fitness mag had a good article about recovering some serious injury. Worth a read if you can get a hold of it.
Fleetwood was well run.could have done with more water stations though on a hot day like Sunday. Just done Blackburn road runners 5k handicap. My 1st 5k. Did ok 20.25 blackpool hm I think for me this sunday then Warrington hm week after.
20.25 great going Rick!!! Your get Sub20 one day im sure of that!! And your certainly getting through the race at the moment!!
Not worries IronHolgs, its good mag actaully, i really rate it. I know it a be frustrating times for you at the moment, but play the long game and amke sure you come back stonger than ever.
Goodluck Holgs with the recovery. Hoping to start running again in next few weeks now ankle been sorted. If anyones interested I have a pair of Inov-8 Trailroc 255, bought from Pete Blands 24/11/2012 and only used 3 times. Perfect condition £30. Boxed with original receipt of purchase to anyone around Morecambe area.....size 10.
Hi all, I'm coming up to Windermere for a work meeting soon, and fancied coming for the weekend and taking in a parkrun while I'm up north. Any parkrun recommendations?
I don't mind hills, not bothered about speedy courses, and I'd like a nice scenic run if possible. Needs to be somewhere I can get to by public transport from Windermere (no car). (Or I could stay near the park run during the weekend, then head over to Windermere at the end of the weekend.)
I'm currently veering towards Preston, purely because my nearest parkrun is Preston Park (Brighton)!
Not sure about ParkRuns in Cumbria annajo , but the Preston one is very good and very social and there is a trail parkrun at Cuerdan Valley, which is just outside Preston, if you fancy a challenge.
Yeah Barrow-in-Furness is the closest park run to Windermere, there are buses that run from the Lakes towns down to Barrow ( my home town ) - you may have to change at Kendal first.
Thanks Runswithmoobs, hope your comeback goes well too.
Yep, 555 to Kendal then X6. Actually it looks like the timetable says the 555 arrives three minutes after the x6 departs, so that leaves the 06.50 train to make the connection. Maybe the busses wait for the arriving one.
Preston might be easier to get to and then get a lift.
Nice to meet you last night SJPC14 - thanks for coming along and listening.
I think unofficially the buses do wait but if it was me I wouldn't want to take that risk, as Mr Bucket List says, Preston looks like it might be the better option.
No worries Ironholgs, i enjoyed it and it was good to finally meet you. I didnt want to keep you as there was a queue but im sure i'll bump into you again.
Ive tweeted you a suggestion that you should include your answer to the question on balancing home, work and training into your presention i think people would really be interested to hear your thoughts on that.
At somepoint today, i'll blog about last night, possibly around lunch time and once ive read your book , i'll add a review on it.

The 25 miler wasnt fun!! He he and yes im doing nothing tonight!!
Hot links you say....i'll take a look
Ultras and multi terrains!! Goodness sounds like youve got some tough days ahead!!
Hi everyone. Back off my hols and back into running. Managed 20 mile last sunday.chester marathon next I think
hello rick, 20 miles straight back off a holiday. Thats impressive!! Well done!!
Fleetwood hm tomorrow.thats if they will do a name change on a entry.
How was everyones weekend ? Did you get down to Fleetwood Rick ?
No many club runners at the local ParkRuns. Was there something big going on ?
There were plenty from Red Rose and Harriers at Preston.
I was at the Preston one and there didnt seem as many as usual and the winning time down was down from its usual 16 mins and looking at the Cuerden Valley results it seems it was the same story there. Just wondering, if i missed a big loca race or not ?
Yes I did fleetwood. Flat but a double loop that got a bit boring. Was a hot day so im blaming that for the 1hr 43 mins
Ah it sounds like they used the same route as the 10 mile run, which was what i thought they would do and like you say can be a bit boring!!
St Annes was yesterday too and ive a suspiction that they will of used the same route as the St Annes 10 Mile. Any ideas any one ?
Still could be worse, it would be the Great North West Half Marathon route......Now that is dull!!
And yes rick, it was very warm yesterday!! How was it organisation wise ?
if your chasing a PB I know I'm never in a position to notice if its scenic or not. why not try a fell race of something in the Lake District if your after nice views.
I think i just like interesting courses. But like you say matt flat courses are the best for getting a PB.

Think Walk / Run and build from there.

Thanks for the tip, will try and get hold of a copy. Yeah taking it very easy...baby steps as I call it.

Possibly Barrow parkrun [all lower case 1 word is the nearest to where you will be going.
