No ...first mara for me ! Always said not interested in doing one but bit bored of half mara's and now feel ready for challenge ....don't worry certainly won't be ahead of you at finish line !!! ...I may be asking for a few hints and tips along the way !!
8 hilly miles, averaged 8.11 min miles, so pleased with that!, also I managed to beat the annoyingly good looking, young, buff bloke that runs for my club!! great personality too!! but I took him down!!
Programme I'm following was 45 mins easy today, nice undulating route. Struggled with lungs a bit first couple of miles ..farmers bailing hay !! Cross train tomorrow , hill session Sat and LR Sun .
Plan says 1hr 30 so I guess around 10 miles. Just had massage really tight through left IT band and glutes ....ouch ! Are you following a plan or just gradually increasing ?
well, there is a plan stuck to the dining room wall, not really got into following at such yet...
races etc seem to pop up and b**ger the job up, I will get on it later in the plan, as I know it makes sense, my mojo is well and truly back now, I am listening to back to back episodes of Marathon Talk, while doing house work etc, thats helping too.
Good news mojo is back ! As a first timer I need to stick to plan for peace of mind also doing diary on runs to log progress ....yep a bit sad I know !! ...anything that helps is all good !
I pour over my Garmin stats to keep an eye on my progress. and obvs compare my progress with my girl friend on garmin connect, its all getting a bit serious....
as for training, i am pretty much in 1h 45 half mara shape, so just need to get the miles in my legs.
anyone else running in rhyl runfest on Sunday? I'm running in the half marathon should be interesting 4 races in one day. Hopefully the wind will hold off.
Hi Boston, how far are you up to with your long runs? I read you did manchester in April? if I do chester it will be my fourth. I ran manchester this year and last and chester last October . I really enjoyed manchester - prob my favourite race alongside anglesey half.
if your local it's worth checking out the training runs the put on once a month
Long run for me tomorrow too, 12 miles at 9:00min/mile pace. I usually end up averaging 8 or 8:30 though, which I need to try and avoid and just follow the plan.
hi RR, long run will be 12 miles, same as hilly, aiming for 9min mile pace.
Manchester was an absolute nightmare for me. arrived late on the saturday, couldnt find the start to pick up race pack, then couldnt find way back to hotel, then met up for meal with club mates, some of who werent running, so they ere getting drunk and taking ages at the meal, didnt get away untill 11pm!! then the taxi didnt turn up.
the race was going ok until about mile 20, was on for sub 3.45, started to struggle with breathing and had a bit of a panic attack and collapsed!!! had a half hour lay down and limped home in 4.30, with one of the lasses from running club, that had done no training and was hung over!!!
I loved chester last year, apart from the day before, I went down to the start, was running along the pavement and a waiter turning up for work at the race course open his car door as I ran by, I ended up in a flower bed full of rose bushes!
can anyone compare the chester marathon to the Manchester marathon. I loved the Liverpool Rock n Roll Half marathon so have decided I now need to face my fears and achieve my dreams and do a marathon. Ive got a constant debate in my head of chester this year vs Manchester next spring!
ran this last year, think I peaked too early with training and then got a combination of stress fracture/ compartment syndrome 3 weeks later during a 10 mile run (after next entry was in before I realised severity ). Hence did not run properly for 6 months and now each lsr is longer than since last October.... Will I get there I wonder?
cheered me up to hear everyone's training and hope to be there as I loved it last year (blocked out the pain, stomach cramps etc )
Comments
Enjoy !!
