Simo429, are you speaking from experience? I live and eat very well on Slimming World. Manage to train without problems. It is as Rocco says a lifestyle change that as you lose weight becomes commonplace. It is not 'fad diet', it is a change to your diet.
My OH does slimming world and its far from a diet. Its about eating good food, cooked in a good way. It also allows you to have sin's daily so you do not have to cut out crisps/chocolate out of your eating habits. She has the odd chocolate bar, biscuit with a cup of tea in the evening and has lost lots of weight in doing so.

Its comes from a lot of experience of seeing people do it marked with the contrast of myself counting calories. I find that unless it fits in with the slimming world programme it is too hard to deal with days that don't fit in, I haven't seen anyone who has done slimming world (and I have seen a lot because I am from the village where the head office is) do it consistently long term, they generally yo yo diet whereas I think education about calorie counting does give you a better chance at doing it forever.

I can only speak from WW perspective, as not done SW, but the points system for all foods does teach you about calorie content, simply put the more calories the more points. So it is breaking it down into very simple terms for people to get their heads around and it is a new way of thinking about foods. You are changing your diet, not on a 'diet' as you can eat anything you like, you just have to be aware of the content and balance it all properly. I know many people who have previously been yo-yo/fad diets and after WW have kept the weight off, I am one of theose myself.
I feel yoyo dieting is part of culture now. All the new 'amazing diets'! If you are committed to making a change you will succeed. I myself find counting calories tedious and need slightly more structure. Also, the ritual humiliation of a weigh in
I don't perceive I will be doing Slimming World all my life but as a steeping stone to maintaining a lighter frame. I know many successes as you obviously know the opposite. I work long days, go out, do events and I manage to make it work. It is easy for us all to give our own perspectives, what works for us. I think it is good for a variety of options for sportspeople such as Sgt etc.

Whereas I don't think slimming world do it like that, as far as im aware some foods you can eat as much as you want of with the understanding that for 99% of people you will fill up before you go over your calorie limit for the day.
I think this was the biggest motivator for me. It felt like I had someting to prove and didn't want to get 'that look' from them when they told me I had put weight on
need to weight the leek & potato pie this evening as its 'ones home cooking'. lots of portion control weight to be addressed when at home : too easy to fall of the wagon.
1 lb in 6 days is progress. I am unsurprisingly and disappointingly heavy. +4lb over "normal weight", +11lb over "race weight". Clearly my 70 mile bike ride was inadequate compensation for a week in hotels.

Hi Rocco
My OH does slimming world and its far from a diet. Its about eating good food, cooked in a good way. It also allows you to have sin's daily so you do not have to cut out crisps/chocolate out of your eating habits. She has the odd chocolate bar, biscuit with a cup of tea in the evening and has lost lots of weight in doing so.
I might give slimming world a go. Its definitely my diet that the issue.

Hi Mrs D Hopefully see you at 226

We know Dave
Ghost, no one should live without pie!!!!!!!
Pie is acceptable as a special treat.
WW/SW does work for many as does loads of other diets, it is all down to long term change in eating habits that make them work, no wonder gimics.
Ginsberg? Is that a pasty and a pint?
actually it was hollands pasties but I'm not a details person.
maybe I dreamed it. they did make a lot of pies and I could eat them all, not take them all with me in the sample crate.
OK it's the weekend.
Are you committed enough to do a public weigh in?
Anyway, Lard won't turn up at Bala
not so much a public weigh in as a public weigh bridge. scores onthe doors later today.
bala on the 6th, school starts on 7th. ive entered, 2 months to make ready and if i sort school early enough then bala appearance is possible.

aiming for extra sessions today and tomorrow.
2 sessions of training, meal and beer unplanned social and 24hrs remaining in the week to do something about it

Suppose I better still a Bala entry in now that Lard has
What is this thread actually about?
From my limited involvement its about supporting Sarge in his stated endeavours
The last stated endeavour was turning up at Bala Standard race in September?
Runner, swimmer, cyclist and triathlete
Devoid of a competitive streak
Who cares, I'm in it for the medal!
Yep, brilliant isn't it
