Heloooooo anyone around ? had some time off running after my knee and asthma problems.... But now I am back .....yeahhh. Started short runs so not pushing my knee or breathing too much. So far things are good. Have entered Swansea half in June so that's my aim. Hope everyone is OK . How is London training going Kiwi ?
That is great news PIP. Back to normal eh ? Getting up to speed with all my London training so that is my main focus. Have a 10k and the Cyprus half lined up as tune up races. Good to hear from you PIP. Anyone else home ???
Hi all. Always nice to see the odd post on this thread. Hope you are all well.
Back to Manchester for me this year, training going well and up to 18 miles on the long run. I've got a HM on 21/02 and another HM on 20/03 so enough to keep me busy.
Hi Bigeater ooo lots of running with you then ? I can only dream of 18 miles at the moment. When is Manchester ? I am going to try for London next year I want to do it one more time, just to prove to myself I can . Just short runs for me at the moment then on to a training plan for Swansea .? really looking forward to that.
Swansea half is in June. So loads of time. I feel so unfit even though I ride three times a week and walk a lot . But I suppose it's going to take a bit of time.
Sure. Just take your time PIp. As you say you have plenty of time to get up to speed. Unlike the marathons it is not so time consuming and as big a schedule.Just be careful. I have just been facebook messaging a runner I know who was supposed to run a marathon today, but has overdone it ( after being told not to) and ended up with pes planus ( collapsed arches) !!
Did you say you will try for London again next year ?
Yes going to try for London next year. I enjoyed the training, but probably had a lot to do with the fun and advice and occasiinal good humoured tellings off from yourself that we had on this forum.
."That's must be so disappointing and frustrating for your running friend. Have you had notification about these special shirts they are doing for everyone who has done London.
How did you get on Kiwi ?? I can't believe we have been 'chatting' for four years. I have been given new asthma treatment and it has made such a huge difference, up and running again and enjoying it! Nine weeks to go before Swansea half so hopefully all will be well. Let me know how you got on ????
Yes, Kiwi - how did you get on? And Big Eater - how was Manchester?
Decided to do an autumn marathon. Quite prepared for it to make me go crazy! I may do Swansea half too, Pip. Have you done it before? I did it last year but didn't run well. I blame the hayfever meds!
Haven't done Swansea before sort of looking forward to it in a nervous sort of way. Entered for London this morning at 2 mins past 12 so fingers crossed for that. Are you any where near Cardiff to do that half in October ?
Well it didn't go to plan. 19.8 miles into my last 20 miler the calf went, pulled the muscle and out of Manchester
Abersnail I did Manchester in 2015 but you've probably seen that turned out to be short and this year the organisation was slated. I wouldn't recommend it now.
So I'm at a gentle 2 mile run yesterday after 7 weeks out and trying to build up again.
Hi Pip! I think Cardiff is too close to the marathon. Did you do the world champs in Cardiff in March?
Big Eater - yes, I heard about Manchester and it has put me off that, but decided to take the plunge and do a marathon in the autumn. I was out injured for 7 weeks at the end of last year. Felt like forever and that I would take ages to get back to where I was but it wasn't so bad and I was just happy to be running again. Make sure you build up gradually
What a shame Bigeater but hopefully on the mend now, have you tried to get in to London again ?? Abersnail I didn't do Cardiff in March have had a rubbish time running lately...in fact didn't do any races last year. Had real problems with my asthma. Now on new medication ( different inhaler) and it's been amazing such a difference . Training for Swansea in June, a little behind in my training plan but hey-ho the main thing is I can actually run,bit slower than usual but that will come back.....hopefully. Kiwi where are you how did London go ??
Hi PIP. London went well.2.43 , so happy with that. Hi Aber Snail and Big Eater. Bad luck on the injury Big Eater. Hope you are on the mend We heard about Manchester too. A few of our club runners did it. No running now for me for a month !!
