Toucan - how is your injury? I have booked flights, accomo etc and really looking forward to it. We should get together and do some distance runs around Rothley, Quorn etc nearer the time.
All patched up and now getting back up to full speed. I was inspired by a 10K p.b. the other week to go for an autumn marathon and the cheap flights and prospect of real guinness pushed me over the edge.
We should meet up for a run over beacon sometime. Are you entering the local races? I'm doing the hinckley half and then should be in for rothley and swithland.
Will be doing Rothley 10K and then hopefully Mansfield half (worth doing) and Robinhood half. Still recovering from sesamoid bone problems in my right foot so have had to cancel a number of races recently. Just trying gel pads at mo - had a week off running and will try another week off before starting again. Really want to get injury totally cleared before starting the mileage training for Dublin. What time do you want at Dublin?
My aim was to try for sub 3 but with no real training over the last few months I may have to re-assess - as long as I recover fully from injury then not too bothered. Did you do Rothley last year?
Didn't do Rothley last year - I was on a work beano to Ascot (it's a hard life). Noticed this year that the Swithland 6 is on sunday with Rothley on Tuesday.
As for Dublin times - I'm not taking it too seriously as I'll be guaranteed a p.b. anyway and I'm really thinking of it as a guide for the FLM2005. The number of pints of guinness I drink will ultimately dictate my performance.
I'm tempted with this one as Dublin is the other halfs former home town. I'm a total plodder though and need a damn good medal for all my efforts...apparently the Dublin one is total pants. I'd be gutted to run all that way and then get something that looks like 'it came out of a cracker'. Wierd i know, but thats me...
Just booked my flight from London to Dublin....now, all I have to do is register for the race...oh....and get my flights from Florida to London.... :-o
Tinks - we used to get a plaque, but last year got a medal which I thought was really nice. Don't forget, the day before we have the breakfast run, so free brekkie for overseas runners, get a t-shirt or 2 as well. This marathon is much better than FLM.
Blazin hot here... My group meets at 5am on Saturdays starting in June because it gets to hot later in the morning. We might go up to Maine in July for some kayaking...hhmmm....wonder if there are any marathons up there in July?... ;o)
Are you back running yet? I remember you saying back along you were injured. I had a bad run at FLM, got cramps at 15mile, god knows why!! it was a long way to the finish ended up 3:09. Gutted!
Nellie64,
Also booked into the Jurys inn, there are 31 of us from my club going this year so far, some of them have stayed there in the past and they say its very nice.
Barkles...we are in a self catering place right by Temple Bar..... millenium tower or something. Looks nice and quite cheap. I'll try to mail you the details if I can.
Muzza - Sorry to hear FLM didn't go your way, take it you were after sub 3? 3.09 is a very good time. I haven't been injured but I was ill and had to cancel Duchy and Conne, OK now.
Hippo - yup we Brits are 'overseas'. Just a bunch of foreigners.
Sorry thought you were injured, glad to see you are back on form. It's funny how sometimes it just doesnt go your way, with a marathon it's all on the day, dont know why it happens but 15mile, I hadnt even got started. I was going for sub 3, and 3:09 is ok but I know I have a sub 3 in me, somwhere.
I'l be there. Have booked everything. Fly out sat, back tues. Hotel is somewhere in Dublin, havent got a scooby where tho!!! Would love to meet up with others over there as going on my own. Am aiming for a simple, slow sub 5.00. Please, any1, let me know of any meeting places/times ect?
DEVONVALE MARATHON. 13th June Newton Abbott, you must av done it last year? Shades missing a marathon? whats going on? It's the week after the Dartmoor Discovery. If you do both your better than me!

Cardiff airport is just fine!

Can't do Mansfield (nephew's christening) and Robin Hood clashes with Bristol which already entered in - but will be there for Rothley.
As for dublin I'll aim for 3:15 but really would be happy with beating my mates london time of 3:22.
Plan for me is just to train normally for the races over the summer, and then start specific training in August for dublin.

Phew I thought I'd missed one!
Haven't checked back through all the posts, but post FLM I would like something else to aim for, and this option is so much cheaper than NY!
What is the race and atmosphere like? Not expecting FLM obviously but is the craic worth it????
