Looks like me left for a time; I have a couple of work mates to run with, so put me down for 1:45. I'll be wearing a flourescent yellow ron hill shirt and number 4599, so if you pass me say hi.
Don't worry David, my legs are aching after the Kingston run yesterday. I'm only planning on running on Wednesday this week, probably a 5 mile tempo and that will have to do!
David, I did 1:06:20 in the 8.2 mile race and I past the 8 mile marker at 1:04:48, averaging 8:10 minute miles, so I was very pleased with that. I would love to be able to keep the pace up for the extra two miles (well 1.8 miles) this weekend!
Wow - sounds a good pace! I'm hoping to do 8 minute miles this coming weekend - although haven't run more than 10k for over 10 years!! Should be quite funny on Sunday!
...and good luck to you too - hope the legs recover! The main problem with the weights class is that I am now in all over agony - legs, arms, shoulders, back - must be an amuzing sight stumbling round like a cross between a robot and the hunchback of Notre Dame!!
At my office everyone was too busy laughing to ask me what was wrong - particularly as I had to walk down some stairs, bend over to reach my locker, and lift my laptop out of the locker!! Whats worst is that I felt ok yesterday so went for a 40 minute run - today is automaton time!!
Does anyone know how diffucult it is to get to this from Kingston?. Ill actually be coming from the Worcester Park area, so any ideas would be gratefully appreciated. Thanx
its quite easy from Kingston - by bus the 281 takes you straight there, by car, go over Kingston Bridge, turn right at the roundabout the other side of the bridge, and I think just keep going till you reach Twickenham.
Im going to be using the bus - parking in Twickenham is too much hassle when I am about to run 10 miles! 8 miles nearly broke me yesterday - I slept through half of Paula Radcliffe's run after doing the Kingston 8
Train is fairly easy as there are direct trains from Kingston to Twickenham, but check the swtrains website for times...
Bus - take the 267 from the middle of Kingston and it will drop you off right in the middle of Twickenham
Car - there are two ways of doing this, either from Kingston go over the bridge and turn left at the roundabout, then follow the road up through Hampton Wick, then Teddington and straight into the centre of Twickenham. Or go via Richmond, in the middle of the one way system take the right hand turn before you get to the bridge and follow the signs to Richmond, when you get to Richmond go over the bridge and follow the signs to Twickenham.
Hi spans - that would be great! I just moved into St Margarets about 6 weeks ago and am just discovering running again! Its amazing down by the river...
Whereabouts do you live? Do you go to a gym round there?
Would be great to have a running partner (particularly one who knows the area)
I'll probably drive to Kingston, & then was going to get the train to Twickenham as thought it may be hard to find parking. Would it be better to drive?.
Someone's compiling a list? This will be my first 10-mile race, so I'm being a bit cautious. However, I do have a 10k best of 40:18. So, I'll go for 1:10:00 (7:00 miling, sounds like a tempo run). Anything faster than that will be great.
I'm from the Ealing, Southall & Middx Club (ESMAC) and there'll be a few of us out there on Sunday - watch out for the green singlet with yellow stripe! (yuck)
There is masses of parking in Twickenham, particulary on a Sunday as you can use the side roads and driving from Kingston should only take you approx 10mins.
David - I live in Isleworth nr the station so not too far, there are loads of runs in the area especially down by the river, but watch out for the high tides at this time of the year as the tow paths can get flooded and then very muddy!! I'll talk more though on Sunday at the Cabbage Patch...
As to a gym - having worked in the past in a one for 5 years the attraction of working out inside just isn't there... maybe one day though!!
Just noticed on the entry form that it mentions different Veteran catergories. Please tell me this isn't a Veteran event?, I think I may be a bit too young....
Bootie, Spoke to a regular Cabbage Patcher at Kington on Sunday says there's no problem with parking unlike Kingston. I found it was easy to park in Kingston though.
TB glad about that one, really need to run this one as missed out in Kingston running festival. Caz,if your driving from Kingston you could follow me, as I've got a good idea how to get there.

Made the mistake of doing this weights class at LA fitness in Isleworth on saturday - first time I've done it and am consequently aching all over!
Will be lucky if I can walk properly by Sunday!!

As for the high tides I know all about it - the end of my garden is on the River Crane and its been well watered over the last coupld of weeks!!
Twickenham is only about 10 mins from Kingston Bridge by car on Sunday morning
ie no traffic
