Cheers LB........ I'm only doing a sprint so should avoid the sun. Bobo will be pacing Shades hour for hour around the Isle of White mara course!! That's going to be warm
Day 2 - the guy who went to hospital yesterday was given permission to run as long as he slowed his pace, extra medic on route to keep an eye on him and he was fine.
We started earlier today due to the hot weather and it was very hot and humid for the first couple of hours. then cooled a bit and a couple of light showers. Superb course, very scenic, ran with Sue to the first hill of note at 7 miles, then pulled ahead as I can walk faster up a hill, then settled down to run the rest on my own, ankle giving me a bit of trouble for the first half but was OK in the 2nd half. I ran better than I expected, 10 mins slower than yesterday. We're having a great time here, the food is superb and we are being really well looked after. Bought an ice cream at mile 24 to get me through the last couple of miles
Today's results
Steve 3.36 George 4.14 Phil 4.29 Ray 4.46 Jim 4.46 Matt 4.46 Malcolm 4.51 Me 5.36 Paul 5.53 Michelle 6.11 Sue 6.46
Tomorrow will be the first real test as the third marathon starts to test whether you've replaced those carbs. No injuries of note amongst us yet, there are a few blisters and sore toes.
Good luck to those of you doing IOW or Halstead tomorrow
For us wimps who are intending to run at Windermere next Sunday, having prepared and rested for a full week, it will be an honour and privilege to meet any of you guys who are still going by then.
Not sure what the weather has in store for you but living in the same county, it looks as though the mini heatwave may be cooling. Here's hoping.
Looking good Shades, without wishing to tempt fate.
Will drop you a note on your other thread re Halstead tomorrow. Feeling less relaxed than Lochaber, mainly because of heat concerns. Still it's nothing compared with what you're trying to do!
Well done Shades, (and the rest of the hardcore runners), the heat must surely be demanding, hope you've got plenty of feed stations en-route. Hopefully it'll cool down towards the start of next week for you all.
