My ten day weather forecast is now showing rain and thunderstorms, 60% chance of rain, temperatures around 65F/18C with reasonable wind. Sounds about right for Thanet!
Cable. Have you run in Thanet before? Rain and useful are not normally words we use in the same sentence! By about 1pm I will be about 6 miles from home and turning round to no doubt run into the face of it for the last 6 miles. Oh deep joy!
No, but I have been hardened by running along the paths of Swansea Bay for the past four years so am well used to running 5 miles into the wind and rain and turning round to find...I'm still running into the wind and rain!!!
I wouldn't know what to do with myself on a cloud-free, wind-free day!!!
Bill I have done the maths and recon we aim for 10m 40sec miles to the half way point. Then 12m 5 sec per mile for 2nd Half Should get us round in 4.58
Anyone else wanting to join our sub 5 (just) is welcome to join us
Don't you going put the hex on it CMF by making premature predictions! Mark, looks like a sensible game plan to me. Last year when I was running with Lorraine and Alan we went through half way more or less bang on that time, so all I need to do is deliver the second half in sub 12min miles and we should be there. I am starting to look forward to it now.
Just been for my penultimate training run. Aimed for an easy 7 miler around the public footways of north Swansea (I'm still trying to sort my Swansea marathon route MF7!) only to find that I was desperately lost and had to sprint back the way I'd come for a 10 miler at too fast a pace!!
Travelling to Surrey tomorrow - my high altitude pre-Kent training camp on the North Downs! Also known as mum & dad's!
Latest wind news. Thanet on Friday is due for 25-30 mph winds but dying down to virtually nil by Sunday with 60% chance of light rain and highs of 65F/18C
It will be like the cycling sprint in the olympics. When the hooter goes we all stand still going "after you", "no, after you" and an hour later somebody gives up and starts running.
CF is going to be last. No matter how slow you go, you have to in front of him. He is the official 'tail end charlie' who lets the marshalls they can stand down.
If he wants to he can also require you to retire if you are over the time limits.. I'm sre you can bribe him not to
Oi, I am unbribeable, although a glass of the old pink could always sway my better judgement
I didn't know I had such power, I thought that I just had to run at a leisurely pace for a long time and soak up the sunshine (a normal marathon then, I hear you cry!!!)

LOL tracey no she thinks im barking mad for taking it on.
she is however joining up with Pit Stop Crew to second us (bless them) The us being Me, bo-bo and Cliff Face
Sounds good!! This one shows a nice window of rain free weather as long as we're finished by 1pm!!!
Better to start off dry and have some rain when it may be quite useful...
