Evening all. Enjoyed my first Pirate outing, great to meet you all and thanks for your support. The Pirate roar at the finish gave me a real lift.
Pretty pleased with my first attempt at the distance. Bit disappointed with the swim, mind wandered a couple of times and my sense of direction went with it. Surprised to see T1 was only about 10mins, felt like about half an hour. Really happy with bike result; only the second time I've done that distance. Has to be said I was very relieved to get off and onto my feet for the run though.
Shocking news about the hit and run incident.. has the local newspaper and regional tv news been contacted...? If they report on the story it would attract more attention and perhaps might generate some leads...?
Glad to hear that she is going to be ok...
Well done everyone else.. some really great performances....!
Just as I was coming into finish the bike, it was an olive coloured thing. Didn't see the number but it must have been whitwell and was about 9:30 I guess.
not that early I wouldnt have thought .. I was waiting in T1 about 1015 when they radioed through, thats not to say it was the first thing they thought of!
I just did a bit of a search on Google, and there is a bus operator in that area called Kimes with buses of that colour.... would be worth looking them up and checking their routes and seeing if there is a link..?
It may of been later than 9.15 on 2nd thoughts, my bike time was a little worse, I was working on the basis of 3.5 hours after my 6.40 start, if could of been nearer 4 hours after, so maybe 9.45. Not precise enough.
Wonder if anyone has any buses in the background of photo's or video taken on the bike course, probably unlikely but worth checking.
Wow! Seems like an eventful day. Being over-protective meant I did not travel up with bubba gumps in the rain (she may melt?) and instead spent a large portion of the day in a coffee bar (seems this is a pub for parents?).
Hope squishy is on the mend and sorry to hear of the dropouts. remember you are still ironmen and this was just an end of season olly.
I think we need Prof Plum.. although latest report is he's still swimming and anticipated to exit the water around lunchtime tomorrow, at least that'll be the 1st lap out of the way
Just popped by to say thanks to all the Pirates both spectating and competing for all your encouragement and banter yesterday. I was the fat bloke at the back in a tripe talk tri kit (I'm known as tailender over there). It was a lot of fun and you guys contributed to that.
Sorry to hear about your accident Squish and wishing you a speedy recovery.
I dont thinks its allowed normally, but seeing as the run did not include any sections of public roads I cant see the harm really, its dodgey if the run includes the open roads/pavements etc.
I have emailed pacesetter lets, no response yet, lets give them some time.

Where was the accident and at what time?
well its not inconceivable (sp?) that it would take a bus 15 mins to get to whitewell...assuming there is a route that way???
I'll have a look at wuk in the morning when not drunk.
*always wanted to be a rozzer*

ooo not good Trogs. Same to you Pebble Have you contacted the organisers??
Did anyone else see the guy on the run using an iPod? Is this allowed / should this be allowed??
