B - please save me some jelly babies this year, last year you didn't even say hello (and I was in pirate kit!)
I take a water bottle to get me through the first 8 miles but no food, this year will take a little smackerel of something for that first leg as last year I was hungry. Though I was also sick, am hoping not to repeat that!
I do at least remember that I don't. Only really stop at the water stations for a rest, rather than a drink!
I'm not sure about the BBC or other forecasts, but I'm relying on sods law and assuming at this stage that it'll be raining heavily on Saturday monring with strong wind, but at least the mist will hide the hills. Just like last year in fact!
Really must get myself some proper kit before the next one of these, like off-road shoes...
I heard Osborne has in the CSR added in special measures on Jelly Beans - ensuring that they are only available to those who dont need them and those that do will only be allowed to look at them from 5 metres away.
like everything else he said pointless and punitive!!!!!
need to go running to reassure myself that people can support one another and ask for nothing in return and that we are not all becoming self interested bigots!!!!
It's a nice day here in Bristol too B. Hope to see you tomorrow at your marshalling station. Look out for me - I'll be in a green vest with red trim - not too difficult to spot amongst the thousands of runners.
Good point Tracey will look out for you on saturday though!
Just back from a little trot up on the downs. Same place as last week (the hills above Jevington) it is much drier underfoot. I didn't see any puddles, the chalk paths are dry, the grassy paths are a little damp but with this weather will dry further, the section where I had to jump puddles and really muddy sections last week has dried out. It is due to be dry tomorrow too, so my guess is that the only muddy bits will be in the woods and they shouldn't be tooo bad if it doesn't rain again. Now everyone cross their fingers that the rain doesn't come before we are all finished and in the pub - it was stunning up there today looking over the rolling green of the downs to the sparkling sea - I hope you get to see it like that this year!
am looking at the Downs from my orifice window and it does look nice up there B - pity I can't get up there till Saturday. I think people who live down here often don't appreciate what a stunning location Eastbourne sits in with the Downs on one side, the sea on another, the Weald to the North, and the Levels to the east.
fingers crossed for good views for the non-locals on Saturday but I fear the weather may have the last word on that - rain is now set from 10am...
sounds exactly like last year then...so unfair!! hmmmm....will really try not to be a fair weather runner....I guess with brecon ultra creeping up I ought to get ready for this sort of thing!
At the moment rain is forecast for the morning and dry in the afternoon, there is still time for the forecast to move on a bit, it can rain from about 5pm..
Comments
and XCweather.co.uk is showing no rain until 4pm
so - all heading in the right direction then
Do you think an umbrella might help me fly like Mary Poppins and get round before the rain?

Me and hubby will have camelbaks with gels and goodies. I gave one on my goodies to a lady walker last year, she look like she need it more than me.
Cas - you got me thru that bit. Very strange. I still blame the WKD blue
I've got percy pigs, and won't carry water - can't be arsed

Can't be fecked to think about anything. Suppose I should check that my cold weather jacket still fits given how much of a fat arse I am now.
Can you tell I'm in a grumpy mood today!
I'm quite looking forward to a run/walk in the countryside - anything to escape the horror of yesterdays CSR!

Sorry for my last rant - composure restored - any weather updates?
