lol im so unprepaired to but i recon i will be miles behind everyone but to be honest i am so exited about just taking part in this event i dont care as long as they havent packed the finishing line away before i get there
have just ordered a pink tutu, legwarmers and arm warmers for a halloween run this weekend so I may try them for Hellrunner - there was quite a lot of fancy dress last year, but I agree that the sogginess becomes an issue later on - I would suggest something that can be dumped at the waterstop or with relatives on route if necessary
I bought some flashing red devil horns today for this. Hopefully the bog of doom won't come up to above my head. But I will have probably lost them by then anyway.
Where are the photos? - I'd love to have a look to see what we are up against. I got myself a nice new pair of Mizuno Wave Harriers on Saturday, nice n shiny, come Sunday, well, they were unrecognisable, but worth the investment. Quick squirt with a hose and bobs your uncle!
I had a great north race! 2 hrs 12. One hr 20 mins quicker than last year, though they did shorten the race a bit from last year to fit 2 races in...grrrrr.... I've not checked the official pics yet. But I'm about to put loads on my Facebook. If anyone wants to see them just find me.....Ria Bright....
Getting excited. Trying to do more and more off road training runs. Did 8 miles all on mud, grass and dirt this weekend and loved it - felt more tired afterwards but legs felt much better.
If you guys get the same chips as us that did North, (paper ones) then they are VERY sensitive & need to be positioned correctly. Loop it through your laces with the number facing upwards. Loads of people doing North have been given the wrong chip time, so I'm not sure about this timing system.....Make a note of your exact time, just in case.....so you can tell them if they give you the wrong one. Mine worked fine, though my original was a dud with no sticky on!
Thanks BB and well done for finishing in what sounded like a pretty good time. Paper chip for a run like this sounds a bit daft. I wonder how far the South run will be? I read about the up norf being less than 9 miles. To be honest, 9 miles would do me at the moment but I suspect it will be longer given the feedback.
Bring your own - we're bringing BBQ stuff and beer for afterwards - loads of people do the same - it makes the filth and wet all worth while once you've got a burger, cold beer and hot cup of tea in your hands
Soup, the chip ankle band looked a bit rubbish, but in fact is strong. The problem isn't it coming off, but getting a signal! So number side up. And they won't register worn above the knee Johnny!!
Do you lot have one or 2 races? We had 2 this year which is why they cut it short from last year. Hopefully they won't do that again next year, & will start the first race earlier.... If you lot only have one race, it should be 11 -12 miles....
No potato chips....but there was a cake stall....
Feel free to check out my 99 pics on Facebook..... Ria Bright.
I am Mr Z, its all part of my month of mud which started this weekend just gone.
It's actually not at the same place, about half a mile inbetween, but it's the same sort of terrain. I did it last year and it was great fun. Doing them both this year so that I can compare the 2.
Mr Zuvai, I did the Saab Turbo X Sheffield, & it was very very similar to Hellrunner North last year. I'd say harder than this years Hellrunner North though, as we had our races cut short. But if you love the idea of Hellrunner, you'll love the Saab Turbo events. People are a bit more serious there though! No fun runners, though still a few of us slower buggers!!
It's actually quite strong Soup. Just sensitive. Remember....in a loop.....number side up. And take a note of your own chip time, as you'll probably be given a time an hour slower than you did........
Thanks BB. If I get a time an hour slower than what I did then it will equate to after everyone has packed up and gone home! Hopefully they will have things sorted now.
One guy that did up north got a time that was so far out he was at home eating his tea at the time they said he did.... Don't think they'll be using those chips again!

I'm sadistic and praying for rain, make those puddles more fun!!

Hi again Southerners. Think of us Northern lot at 11am on Sunday, as you are snuggled under your duvets! We are going to have frost.
Ooooh, I like the idea of flashing horns Soup! I think I'm getting a pink tutu from the pound shop.
I promise not to pee in the bog ready for all you Sunday kids.
Oh, those sort of chips. Booooo.
Mushy peas. Ahhh. if I knew there'd be a Fish and chip van at the finish line that did mushy peas and gravy, that'd be all the motivation I'd need.

ohh chips at the end sounds like a winner - someone could set up a stand and make millions!
Is anybody else doing the soloman x trail the weekend before? - it seams to be at the same place!
