They have not had much luck with this race. A few years ago they were filling up the hospitals with collapsed runnners when it was in the summer and now this.
I was driving around Norwich earlier and the snow was melting fast as it was a sunny day....so what's happened since then? I was convinced it would be OK. Just so annoyed as I was really after a good time. Grrr
Oh well, like Mr Spoons I will also be running 13.1 (or maybe even a few more) tomorrow...albeit a bit slower than planned I expect.
how disappointing! Luckily we're staying with family so that softened the blow. Me and my bro in law did 13 around Acle and Beighton. It was slushy but not icy. Was well chuffed because I did it in 2h15!!!
Fingers crossed I can make the date they set. Ah well, got the Percy Pud 10k in sheff next week, which will happen come rain, snow or shine! See you next year!
When do peeps think it will be re-scheduled then?? Gutted as I'd made the journey over from Nottingham! Oh well never mind, I did 11.5miles Sat evening instead
Yeah very disappointing it didn't go ahead especially as I travelled up from London on Friday night...but it was also to see family so not by any means a wasted trip. I ran 20k Sunday afternoon in and around the city and I have to say the pavements were far more slushy and icy than i expected so as much as i was gutted by the decison on Saturday i think in hindsight it was probably the right call.
I just hope the organisers when looking at a new date next year consider some of the other half marathons that go on. I'm already entered for Watford and Reading half marathons as training before the London marathon and i would be gutted if the new date clashed with either of these. Also it will be good if they can set a new date early as possible so that people can plan their races in the new year.
14.5 for me yesterday, so at least I got a long run in. It was very icy on some of the roads, so I guess if it was the same around the showground they made a good call.
I agree it would be helpful to have the new date confirmed asap. I am hoping it'll be January which should make it before some of the other pre-London halves.
Yes - having done Bungay this year I think I prefer the smaller ones, but I have a GFA time so may as well use it! I'm aiming for the Bury and Wymondham 20 mile races in the build up, plus the Norwich half of course! What's your next event?
I'm doing VLM next year. Got a club place. Also doing Belvoir challenge - 26.2 miles across freshly ploughed fields. Maybe Wymondham 20. Probably Broadland half.

Thanks for the link Mr S - I'm on a couple of the ones on the VLM tab (sub 3.30 and sub 3.45), but always good to join another one! See you over there....
Don't fancy a marathon on ploughed fields It's hard enough on solid ground!
Wow that now means 3 half marathons in 3 weeks for me - Berkhamsted on the 6th, Norwich now on the 13th and Reading half on the 20th.
That's going to be a challenge.....think may have to treat one or two as just training runs! Glad it's not clashed with any of the spring halfs I was planning to do though so could have been worse
Might work for me, as it will be sandwiched between two 20 mile races I am planning in the build up to VLM. So a nice half in between will be OK I think.
Freemers, you mentioned on a post the other day about doing Bury 20 in your marathon build up, but that event died in 2009 as Muscular Dystrophy pulled out of it!
I am happy with the new date, as had no races lined up for March until now.

That would explain why I can't find it on any race listings!
Anyway, I've entered Wymondham 20 and the Cranleigh 21 (in Surrey) which are the ones either side of the Norwich event. The only thing I will need to decide is whether to actually race this now or use it as a training run. I think with a lot of heavy mileage in my legs for marathon training I am unlikely to be able to go hell for leather anyway, so will probably just go round fairly steadily. I might tag a couple of miles on either side to increase the distance as well.
