good luck guys, hope to catch up with a few of ya later today ...give me a shout tomoz (i'll be wearing rainbow kit for TeamLaws on the run) when you see me struggling near the back. cant wait!!!
Looks like it was really nasty out there, Cona reckons there is about 200 DNF's...Although it looks like Kanga, RBM, Waff and Dave are out on the run but i think Lee TP has pulled out.
Sounds awful out there. Its bad enough here in the comfort of my own living room - I've even put the heating on! Well done to all finishers. Gutted for LTP if she pulled out.
I have never ever been as scared on a bike before.. Driving rain, sidewinds and lots of muppets towing caravans !
Really strange to be passed on the return leg by loads of pick up trucks full of race bikes !
Yeah Min reckoned 200 DNF's.. Didn't Lee TP after the swim, and her bike wasn't in transition when I finished, So looks like DNF
Got passed by Colorin with a mile to go, But held off Iron Tractor Boy in the last 200 yds !
Fingers were so cold I have messed up the splits on my watch, But once I hit T2 it was only ever going to be a plod to the finish (Thanks to the lovely lady marshal who tied my shoe laces and opened me a gel, My fingers were stuffed just at that point)
6:55:48 according to my watch, With 200 dnfs's this is one old fart more than happy with his result !
bloody bollox...dnf for me today although it should be called a CBA!!! we stayed at the white lion...big mistake...about 12.30 people started pouring out of the millions of bala pubs (3) and proceeded to sing (glory glory man utd) unlil after 4am...wtf...i'm sure it wasnt the same crowd but where did they all come from....so 2 hours sleep didnt help my state of mind. i did the swim in about 50 min and was pleased...but as soon as i was out of the water i wanted to stop....i got a few mile on the bike but it was so bad i decided to can it!!! for me this was a practice race and i wanted no pressure and to enjoy it....i didnt... of course i hate the dnf....but it was just bad luck that i got no sleep and the weather was so bad....so i'm not too bothered. Most expensive training swim EVER!!!
That was one tough day! Swim was hard, the return leg was choppy as hell, but lost out on 2nd place for the swim wave as a guy from the earlier wave had a real wobbly momnet as he stood up in front of me, real comedy moment for me watching him.
Took T1 steady & glad I went for full rain coat, socks, winter gloves & rain proof skull cap under the helmet. That bike was horendous, head winds side winds driving rain, shame so many DNFd but not surprising given those conditions. One guy was huddled in a phone box half way down the A470, on the return he had been given a foil blanket by a motorbike marshal.
T2 also slow but went out on the run. Haven't run properly since January, so was pleased to actually be able to run the whole course, just slow.

Well done Dave
Famous last words
Top effort to all those who started any race today, it wasnt good out there
Assuming the weather at Bala was similar to the New Forest today, hats off to everyone who started today. Not a good day for tri-ing
Amazing effort for anyone who completed today, especially Waffy! You're well 'ard, lovely
A friend of mine who's been racing tri for over 20 years recorded his first DNF today. One of the 200, by the sounds of it!
