Change of plan, I'm going to run in from the other direction, through Tudely and Five Oak Green, its flatter . The only uphill bit will be through Tudely as opposed to 2 long uphill bits through T.Wells and the lanes between pembury and Matfield. I might change my mind again, the other route is prettier, decisions decisions.
Either way I'll set off before 9am, I'm a bit of a plodder so I'd expect it to take about 1:40-45. I want a bit of time to meet you guys and have something to eat and drink and a stretch before we set off again.
Whatever way I go I'll either have a pink ribbon in my hair or if its really cold i'll tie it round my jacket sleeve.
Lol Hippo! No he's not getting married. But James got married last year on the same day as Beachy which is why I couldn't do it. I still swear he did it on purpose.
Hi Becky, I'll definately be at the back cos I'm planning to run 9 miles to get to the race so I'll be knackered before it starts!
Were going to wear pink ribbons to identify each other but I've since found out that green ribbons are a forum tradition so I suppose either would be good.
Gutted but have to withdraw from this race.... ;-(
Have been suffering with a bad knee for a month or so and it gave be a bit of jip at Hastings two weeks ago. Tried a 5km run on the treadmill at the gym on Sunday and still feeling it so think its best not to run until the Doctor has had a peep....and hopefully an early scan.

Anyway...good luck to you all and I will be there in spirit....( well probably in bed!!)
I'm thinking of doing this on Sunday and applying on the day seeing as i've missed the postal date. Will this be ok? According to this site it should be fine but can someone let me know if there is likely to be an issue to save a wasted jounrey?
MB77 - When I did this race in 2006 there was lots of people entering on the day. And it says it did not fill up last year so you should be fine. It is a lovely route and nice and flat.
i emailed the rice director the other day to see if there were any entries on the day, apparantly this yr they have had more entries than any other yr and they cant gaurantee there will b any left on the day, if so to arrive around 8.45am he said, my advice would be to enter online to avoid disappointment!
I'm running this on Sunday, first time, looking forward to it.
I'm number 117, say Hi if you pass me!
Question - everyone I've spoken to on fetch says this is a quick PB course. I ran 1.47 at Brands Hatch last Month and a chap i was talking to said I could knock off about 7 minutes for the hills...therefore should I realistically be looking to do a 1.40 at PW? I'm just trying to work out a pace to aim at.
Sort of depends if you like flat events or not. Know that sounds crazy but I find I prefer a few hills to get the legs fully stretched and it varies the muscles groups a bit. Just have to see how it goes.
I'm entered for Sunday. Race number 653, first 1/2 of the this year and first after some serious attention from the chiropractor so I'm really not sure how things will go.

Sunluver - the race starts at 11am. 13.1 is far enough for me. I have a horrible cold at the moment. My eyes have started running.
Lots of rest and fluids Tracey.

...you'll have to scroll back past all the chat to my post at 11.28 on 19/3, Sir C de C.
Are you like your namesake, or do you accept the gauntlet thrown to you?
p.s. I shall be partaking of the event in a Dartford Road Runners vest.
No-one has seen me without my culottes.
But I've seen a Plum wearing a little plastikky pirate vest three sizes too small - looked rather, well.....
Hi guys
entered online last night. This will be my first half. Likely to be in the 2.30 time. Any one else going to be at the back?
Done Ashford 10k so far this year.
Intend to do the Whitstable 10k, Mount Ephraim 10k (Hernhill).
Also have a place in the GNR

Anyone checked out the weather forecast yet?
Windy, apparently.

any ideas what I should be going for?
Pil - I hope this helps in my first year of racing I did both Brands Hatch and Paddock Wood. Here are my times.
Brands Hatch - 2:34:34
Paddock Wood 2:21:39 - with was my pb and still is, as I have not run a flat half since.
