Hey I'm gonna stand up in defence of this (digs out hard hat) I've done the nike races before and have always had good experience of them.
Yeh the route's not going to be up to much but then the whole point iof the nike races is the shirt and the chosen theme in this case the Wembley start and concert! I'm in it for those reasons if I wanted scenic I'd sign up for a race where that's the emphasis! These big corporate races are (in my humble opinion) ideal for both beginners to gain confidence and for runners with a bit fitness who fancy something different... Which this appears to do!
I'm looking forward to it I get to start from Wembly! Sod PB's in crowds of 30 odd thousand!
My freinds persuaded me to sign up in wave 2... However I've had awful summer and only started running again a week or so ago. So think I'm going to stand at the back of the wave and hope I don't get in anyone's way as they storm past me!
Hi, I've entered but didn't realise you had to purchase tickets for your supporters. Now I can't get hold of a ticket as I've been told you can only get them on registration.
Just picked up my race pack, (Wave 3) not i would call it a race pack, the top, chip, ticket and a crappy leaflet, no info on start time and race route, just turn up at 5pm and sit down by 6pm. Bit silly really, anyone got any info, Race route, or Wave start times?
Hi Mikie, I'm in wave 3 too but none the wiser I'm afraid, and I didn't even get a crappy leaflet! Did you get a wristband? I saw some on the counter but I've now discovered that they didn't put one in my pack, so I'm wondering whether it's essential or not (rather not have to trek back there if it's not!)
Turtlegirl73, I think I may have panicked a bit early, sorry! Someone on Fetch who is running in Wave1 said they had a wristband but no concert ticket, so I think it may be that people in Wave 1 are standing for the concert (so they can get out of the stadium faster I suppose!) so they get a wristband for identity purposes instead of the ticket. My ticket has a seat number on as well as saying it's for Wave 3, so I guess that's all we need. Though I'm rather upset to hear that Wave 1 people got Starbucks vouchers rather than one for a free workout at Virgin Active!
Yes, it did occur to me that we could well have been stood next to each other in the queue! Actually, it was eerily quiet in Niketown despite it being lunchtime. Wondering now how many people are actually doing this race, I don't believe the 999,999 hype from the bus ads for one minute. And I haven't got a honed, toned backside to show the world either, more like a tubby chubby a**e!
Waves 1 and 2 get a wristband as they start on the pitch, and the ticket gets you into the stadium. I still have no idea about the route, has anyone found an online link yet? I found which roads willl be closed, but thats it.
I'm in wave 1, but am expecting to be slow as my recovery from injury has been slow to say the least. Did run 6 miles today though, so am pleased.
Haven't seen the course either! I'm in wave 2 (was feeling optimistic when I entered) - only just back from holiday so managed 4.5 miles tonight but it wasn't pretty - wave 4 will probably run past me easily!
Very difficult to determine from that map, but your right, might be quite chaotic. Not the most scenic bit of London either to be honest. I am now questioning why I spent £30 on this to be honest, have been doing plenty of marathons and halfs for much less than this recently but I am sure it will be an experience.
T-shirt not great mind, ordered a small and it is still too big. I am off in wave 1 but I am not sure what that means really in terms of times, I am aiming for under 40 mins but I guess there will be people 10 minutes faster than that towards the front.
I am a bit worried though, somehow I have ended up in Wave 2 - I am a beginner runner, with a best 10km time of 1hr 10.5mins.
Are the Nike+ runs like the BUPA ones i.e. some slow people like me? or are the Nike+ runs for the faster runners. Really concerned I may have entered a race I will just be rubbish in!
I shouldn't worry sole survivor, It sounds like it is going to be more about an expereince rather than fast running. Just be careful not to dash off if youhave faster runners around you and you'll be fine, after about the first 1.5k you'll find yourself around others running at a similar pace to you. I would not put too much empahsis on the wave you have been given, I suspect it will not make a huge difference. Good luck.
"You'll be fine, after about the first 1.5k you'll find yourself around others running at a similar pace to you"
...or it will be just me crawling around the course with everyone else miles ahead! I am so nervous I'll be last! Especially after reading this thread. and seeing the hoped-for race times
I'll be there - although I am put off by having to listen to the concert first. Fingers crossed that the toilet situation is good!!
Its my first 10k, and I'm aiming for 1hour - 1.15, and I reckon there will be loads of people faster and loads slower. Given the numbers and the course (from what has been said above) I suspect it will be hard to go too fast anyway.

I got my pack today. I am in wave 4. No wrist band though. T shirt, leaflets, tickets and counter thing for my trainers.
Was there suppose to be a wrist band?
ok........................I got the free workout at virgin active and disappointed. I WANT THE STARBUCKS VOUCHERS!!!...lol...lol..lol...
My ticket has a number too. We maybe next to each other..lol..
Maybve we could swap vouchers in the queue?...lol.....
I guess your not surrendering what your ticket seat number is then?...lol
Not telling now that I have confessed about my chubby a**e! I should still fit in the seat, at least I hope I won't be overflowing into yours

I'm in wave 4- I took the last wave as the 1st wave is suppose to be the fastest.
Well done for managing your 4.5 miles
Yep, the road closures map suggests that the route zig zags around all over the shop - could make a fast time diiffcult:

Does anyone know what time the waves start? They better tell us before the day itself...
