  • Options
Bed.Mmmmmmm...... Yup, bed is good. Wow, all this running is making me feel tired. (yawns)
  • Options

I need to try and get a 10-13 in probably on Mon. I just dont seem to have been motivated to do the long ones lately.Maybe its because the runs are later in the year although I will need to be super fit for the Back to Back one.

Hi By Eck I bet you are exausted. Are you having to use a camp bed.

  • Options
Camp bed last night but home tonight to sleep so i can do mummy duties for other child.
  • Options
I used to find that very difficult as you are torn between the one in Hospital and the ones at Home.
  • Options
Yup. And then there is oH in there somewhere. At the bottom of the pile (under all the washing and housework) is you.....

Wow - OMG I'm sooo far behind, so apologies for not commenting on everyone's specific posts but I did read everyone of them but I'd need to be taking notes over the past number of pages... So here's what's stuck

By Eck, so sorry, do hope little eck gets better soon, our thoughts are with you and your family.

Ian - wow first race, loads of miles, you're motivating me nevermind us motivating you!! Re garmin, I use my smartphone, if you're lucky enough to own phone just download a running app, much cheaper than buying another piece of equipment, but like Lou my friend swears by his Nike sportband and there're cheaper than a garmin

Ecky good training!!! Loving your cross training, and being a squat "lover" feeling your pain

Jude thanks for the race diary update image - I'm trying to get my "friends" to join me in running Brown Willy 7 on new year's day, but I need them all to agree otherwise it won't happen - a swim in the Atlantic is already on the cards since we'll be about 100m from the beach image - shame about the karate, but he sounds a good boy, and it is boring, like Ian I do a Korean martial art, more active. The one Ian refers to I believe is also what Bruce Lee first studied... Not boring and not karate. I hope you fields and trees yield you good fortune in the coming year.

Lou - stop posting pics, you're making the rest of us feel even less like cover models than usual, your avatar us so perfect for you, many people may use they avatar but then you meet or see them and it's another case of wishful thinking - not so for you!

AF - that's just an embarrassing amount of race entries and future plans, I'm very impressed! I'm certainly not worthy!

FRANNY!!!! - what talent and core strength, fantastic pics and skill, WOW it's a long time since I've seen some of those poses, but they were never done so classy, I particular like the outdoor one, such a cool photo to have - truly amazing, pole dances and bakes carrot cake that's quite a cv!

RR - watch that knee, have you had a gait check, personally I've had a few done but really only the specialist running shops deliver, didn't have to much luck at either the high street or even big sports brands

Well hi to everyone else, my gym training going great, work been so busy haven't managed runs as well! I won't go into details but if anyone wants details on the dark side of training let me know, always happy to share my experIence. (chilli / Lou bi's looking great image better than last pic)

So sorry for not checking in sooner image

Gastank our Loula is a stunner alright and soooooooooo lovely too.

Wow you did well on remembering all of those posts. The pain is flippin awful. That will teach me to go to a proper Boxing club where the trainer thinks we are all young boxers.

Dark side of training image sounds very very scary.

Goodness me.... 4 pages of posts in one day! Like Gastank above I haven't taken notes so can't remember it all. But am thinking of little Byeck. And sending big hugs and hopes that he will be back home tomorrow.

Ian - you've deffinitely got the running back and we are all very excited that you've booked your first race.

Gastank - just so you know, i look nothing like my avatar image

i've spent some of the day painting again. What should have been pale dusky pink woodwork turned out as sugary barbie pink. I think it's awful, but my colour-happy girlies and hubby love it. Lol.

Have also finalised my menu for thanksgiving cos tomorrow I have to go shopping. Do you want to hear? Okay....

Turkey with cranberry stuffing and caramelised apples. Sausages. Special mashed potatoes (with bacon and mushrooms. Roast potatos and parsnips. Pan fried onions, mushrooms and courgettes and marinade. Steamed carrots and broccoli. Peas and sweetcorn. Homemade bread rolls. Cranberry sauce. Pumpkin pie. Chocolate, pecan pie. Ice-cream and cream. Coffee and Chocolates.

How's that sounds? The idea is that you have enough left over to eat for the next couple of days. Although I don't overdo the portions that much. And still only 10 of us so will be an easy time this year.

Oh yes and I did go for a 5 mile run tonight. image

  • Options

Chilli that has made me very hungry. It all sounds lovely. Painting and a 5 miler too gosh how do you manage all that.

We are having a paint trauma at the mo.Hubby is doing the room and I chose a Roasted Red for the 2 smaller walls but he doesn't like it. I think its a gorgeous colour really warm and my Girls love it too.

  • Options
I'm hungry now... Love pecan pie, must get some American friends!!!

Gastank - why don't you come over? You live in North London don't you? We're eating 6pm on Friday (got kids so can't be too late). send me a message if you're interested and I'll let you know my address.

ummm..... I know you're not really supposed to meet up with strange people you only meet on the internet and don't even know their name. But we are honestly very real and friendly. My hubby is a local minister so I can give you the website of our church so you can see who we are first.... and I'm just hoping you're not a psycopath..... image... and anyway, i'm sure we must have met at grovelands at some point....

ecky, every time you mention squats and crunches my body aches on cue! lol...hope you get a long run in soon..im hoping the B2Bs wont be too much of a killer whn the time comes..think i will start them after christmas gradually.

chili, wow!! that menu sounds fantastic-im starving now reading that and ive only just had brekkie!! yum yum...EVERYONE TO CHILIS HOUSEimage....and i KNOW you are a fab cook after trying your cake you brought to Highclere-it was yummy. miss llb keeps asking for me to make the smartie cake you brought too lol...

gastank-what IS the darkside of trainingimage im all ears!!!...and if you want to post pics of the ever improving biceps for us girls then feel freeimageimage we need a little something to brighten our dayimage....thank you for the avatar comments, but the avatar has far less lines  and dark circles on her face than i doimage..first thing in the morning?..oo im scary to see..true horror lol...image.....gastank, if chili is offering an invite to dins-take it!! her food is great..or at least the baking anyway...and they are a great family. chilis family, mine and smut all met at Highclere for a multi terrain 10k in sept, and it was a lovely day and really great to meet people from this thread...and they are just as brilliant in real life as they are on here-was a good day and hopefully ther will be many more meet ups at events in 2012image

Chilli, that's so lovely!!! But the family is full of the lurgy and I have woke up this morning with it too image, so I'm afraid I'm going to have to take a rain check - but I cannot tell you how touched me and the LM were by the offer, you're one in a million!!

Lou, will find appropriate pics if possible. I have to be honest and say I'm a little obsessional about taking pics, I know people will see it as weird and vain BUT I use it to keep me in check, remind myself of where I started and what progress I'm making. When you see yourself every day you can't see the week on week and month on month changes, but by recording pics you can look back a few weeks or a month and see what's happening (like when I fell off the wagon last Christmas and had told myself I hadn't gained anything - not true, pics never lie!) darkside of training for runners in my view is the extreme cross training aspect, spending serious time doing something other than running, in my case the gym... When I can next get to the computer I'll post up my current programme for 8 of the 12 weeks, do that or similar and run... And you'll understand the dark side - digging deep isn't an option it's a requirement (unless of course you're Karno or Bear Grylls already, who probably would find it to be similar to a children's playground!)

So I'll post pics occasionally and then you lot can help keep me in check while I strive to emulate Karno, I mean AF image

By Eck hope little Eck doing better!

    MOOOOOOOOORNIN.

Franny Well Done on your club sesh last night.I enjoy doing something different for a change.Legs are a little less sore today and my Back feels less bruised.I think I need to take some padding with me.

Loula yeh I must get into it now as I am going to struggle otherwise.I was going to do a long run at the weekend but with racing Sun I have had to give it a miss.I just need to get back down the canal and plod. Yesterday I took it easy and made myself slow right down.I find it so difficult though and feel like I am not running at all.

I get it Gastank. I know when I go to other exercise classes at Work (staff ones to get us fit) I realise how hard they make us work at Boxing.I love it though and the  class is always packed. I think taking pics is a good idea too.I dont know about you but I look at myself sometimes and I cant quite believe its my Body. Its not perfect but I dont ever remember being so fit and toned in my life.Oh and hope you feel better soon.

Well I am going to club tonight as Thurs is a nice easy run then rest till Sat Morning and the little plod with my Girls then rest till Sun.I just hope it stays dry now as I really dont want to lose my Shoosies in the Bog.

By Eck how is Little Man doing.I hope he is improving.((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))))

    Morning all,

Ian-Well done on catching the running bug. It is a healthy bug to have.

Talking of bugs/illneses fingers crossed that the byeck household is getting better and little byeck is recovering. Also gastank and Franny aren't laid down to low for too long. I must say.....& I don't want to tempt fate that since I ceased being a fat boy I haven't had any illnesses or bugs whatsoever since 2009! ....

Ecky- I can easily run 5-7 miles day in and day out...However, I do struggle to find the time and motivation to go further. I know I could runa 1/2 marathon tomorrow just by doing these shorter runs & for the time being I am accepting that a 1/2 marathon is as far as I am intending to run in the next 6-9 months. But, I will run at least 4 in that time and hopefully more.

gastank- What is/where is the Brown Willy 7? Sounds interesting. I am racing on New Years Day and I do like the idea of blowing the cobwebs away. Well done on all of your work in the gym. I do need to do some more upper body strength to emulate that strange looking Karno person those women are talking about! image

Chilli- Your meal sounds lovely. So what is special mash? Well done on the painting & the 5 mile run last night.

Franny-Well done on your trainng session sounds painful, but, something I know I need to do if I want to improve my times.Like LLB I just tend to run without any plans.

Managed my 4th run in cosecutive days & did 4.8 miles with some hillwork in 40 minutes. So tha is my 42 consecutive week of 20 + miles & c 1300 miles for the year. Sadly I won't get to 1500 for the year.

Hi A.F yes it is a real mental struggle sometimes. I maybe shouldnt plan to run that far maybe just go out and see what happens. Well done on your mileage too thats impressive.

Af...Thats impressive mileage for the year.....my oh my....Think  I will try and do that next year....LOL The counting thingy not your mileage LOL.Gosh knows wht speed you would do AF if you included interval sessions..Does your club not offer sessions like that...????

Ecky..Do they not give you small mats to lie on????.Maybe santa could bring you one along with your garmin as you have been a very good good girlie this year.......I can see your halo shining from Scotland...It's positively glowingimage

Jude....Enjoy your turkish lesson and hope you get out for a run tomorrow.

Decided to have a rest day well from running anyway......caught up on all the household chores and will hopefully be feeling heaps better tomorrow so as I can run without coughing and needing to blow my nose every minute..(i know too much info) sorry..............

Franny, Gastank - sorry you are feeling ill. And sorry you can't come and join us tomorrow Gastank, would have been great to meet up. Never mind - I'll post a virtual dinner on here for you all. image

Special mash has got sour cream, onions and little bits of bacon in it. Sooooo nice. My big girl loves it so it going to be very happy.

AF - your mileage is very impressive! Well done.

Franny-My club does offer interval trainings, but, being a predominately ladies club it is a Wednesday morning! So no good for me unfortunately.
