Hey hope u r all well. I attempted my second saltwell park parkrun today and PB'd , in that glorious weather i managed to achieve 20:26 (my watch) . Im so pleased training seems to be paying off.
One thing though, my arms were aching worse than my legs on the last hill- felt so heavy , did not like this new pain! Is there any reason why this happens or is it literly me using my arms and fatigued? Should i train my arms or summat?
Hope all have a great day/weekend n lets hope the sun makes an appearance soon
Well done MeShell- that's a good time. Your arms drive your legs so if you are working hard up a hill, you'll use the arms more. Think how bulky sprinters arms and shoulders are!
I did the Otmoor challenge this afternoon. Its a country half marathon ie not quite the full 13.1 but its partly off road around the bird reserve so its quite hard. And I know I shouldn't complain, but i don't like racing in the heat and it was seriously warm. Nice medal at the end of it though...Its part of the village fete so its all delightfully rustic
thanks OS wow sounds fun, but not my kinda fun haha. Well done to u though. We had rain , . Lots of it unfortunately but i think i would probs prefer to run in the rain than heat . Can chill out tonight with a well earned glass of wine
For my those of you doing Blaydon next Sunday - how many for curry afterwards ? The early start should allow for plenty of time to unwind in the Bridge before eating. Let me know if you're interested, either here or on fb; I was thinking of booking for 7pm, but if that's not ideal, let me know.
Hi Everyone,Hope your all keeping well. XL, I'll be in the Bridge for a drink but dont think I can make the meal.Really looking forward to the race, hoping for lots of rain again.
I don't know. I have a friend who lives out there, but am working on the basis that Europe itself is more expensive generally. I am going to take 100E and hope that's enough.
I am flying to Brussels to stay with a friend to keep costs down. She will drive us into Luxembourg on Saturday, we will run the race and come home. The race starts at 7pm their time
havnt posted for ages but hope everyone's ok, most I see on fb
Vix, sat sounds brilliant, good luck but you don't need it !
ive got a half mara on 23rd, Shrewsbury ( my home town ) and first year of the event , already got 2500 entered and can choose a half or full.
Havnt done a huge amount of training as many of you know I've had a dislocated knee cap ! Fun. All seems to be ok for now but going for x ray next week to check it out.
I will try to keep an eye on here for the summer at least, happy running all
Sorry I haven't been around for a while ... I've had a bit of a health scare and for the past couple of weeks I've been ill with worry. I just had it confirmed today that I'm fine, but it's been horrible, and as such all enthusiasm for training and racing has gone out the window. (tip: if you're at all worried about your health ... avoid Google like the plague!)
But now I'm back and looking forward to the Blaydon Race on Sunday. I can't see me putting in a pb as I haven't been training as such (and I'm celebrating tonight!) but I'll enjoy it regardless!
Does anyone have a good photo of Mick the Mackem that they can link to me (or email to me or send me a link to via FB?) I'd like to put something on the back of my shirt but can't find any really good photos.
shielsy, so pleased you had good news today. I can imagine the worry you've had and now the relief you must be feeling. Good advice about avoiding google!

Hi everyone
I have spare accomodation in Whitley Bay for GNR, due to some of our supporters not being able to attend.
The b&b is in the top 5 rated on tripadvisor.
Any questions please ask
