Didnt think I would be in any and surprise surprise Im in two. Thanks Moomoo ..... <<EEyin makes mental note not to put hands on hips in case he is in somebodies viewfinder again>>
Organisers confirmed to me that the Lochaber will definately clash with FLM in 2006 and it wont be moving. Its make your mind up time but if my club support Lochaber as well as they did this year I'll be giving FLM a miss.
I know which race I'd rather do.....I prefer to watch FLM on telly than run it anyway!
However, I will have to enter FLM as I will be coaching some more first time marathoners and they would like me to run with them. With a bit of luck I won't get in and I can sneak off to Scotland.
Never having done London, if I got in I'd probably do it. But I suspect only once for the experience, whereas, I'd do Lochaber again next weekend if I could ;-)
That's my dilemma, RHG. I should have a guaranteed place for London next year (5 rejections since 2001). I have run it before (2000) but had only been running for a few months, so didn't make a very good job of it. I'd like to do it again and enjoy it as a running event, rather than being frustrated and in pain.
But I also want to do Lochaber again, preferably without the DNF.
Same dilema as you Nessie. 5 rejections in a row from FLM so should get in next year but would love to do Lochaber again with a much better time as a full year will make a big difference if I can get back to the leaner fitter me that ran it last time in 1998. Plenty of time for decision though.
Hey Count, where are you next then we can stalk you ;-).
Speedie and Nessie, get those FLM places in the bag, then you can make the decision re. deferring or taking part. And anyway, there's always 2007 for Lochaber, and 2008 will be it's 25th year so we'll have to be there then!!!
If you havent done London before and you have had 5 rejections then I would enter and run it next year. I wouldnt defer as it will cost you double. Ive ran FLM the last 2 years and its a fantastic atmosphere but there is always the following year to do it again. Can you enter Lochaber now for 2006?
My club mate who took ill at Lochaber is now on the mend and is getting back into running. Docs seem to think that her illness was not related to the marathon but maybe something brewing that certainly wasn't then helped by running so far in hot conditions. She was very touched when I told her of all your good wishes.
So cycles followed by short runs. Also make sure you get a decent drink on the bike as you'll not have one on the run but in a sprint you can also do this in transition and leave the water bottle there. But you're not there to win the damn thing so just be comfortable and enjoy.
The run off the bike is the weirdest feeling and you'll gain the most from just doing bricks.
TC - so I should go for a cycle and then jump off my bike and go for a run? I'll maybe try that this week. Is it a problem putting shoes on when you get out of the pool? I'll just be putting my running shoes on and don't imagine I should bother with socks, but my feet will be wet... I don't want to end up with blisters.
I will be happy to finish it, and would like to enjoy it too! that's my aim.

I'd buy you an orange juice ;-)

A lift back to Edinburgh would be appreciated!
I'm in for 2006, London can wait another year.
I will apply for London and if I don't get in I will give Lochaber another go, can't get two hot days in a row can we?
I can't be @rsed to run at the moment. Too fat and lazy. I am doing the stirling tri though TC - any tips?!
