One of my runs takes me along the canal, briefly along the city centre outskirts, onto the cycle path (which cross roads), then finally back onto the canal path.
In total I cross over over 10 busy roads and at least a further 5 minor(ish) ones[1] - imagine the time I could save in crossings!!
[1] I never realised it was so high! Just started to count a few in my head.
I tried my long run without many roads last weekend and nearly drowned in the mud! After 13 miles of hills, slipping on mud and freezing to death Silverstone should be a doddle! Back to the roads for me!
I'm organising a coach from London to Silverstone for the half marathon on March 13th. The coach is now just about full, so I have to make a decision on whether we will need a second one.
Could I ask anyone who is interested in coming with us to let me know within a day or so, so that I can make a decision. Please mail me at info@runningbus.co.uk or check out the website www.runningbus.co.uk .
Forgive me for posting this on more than one forum, but I really need to reach anyone who's planning to come with us to the race. Thanks very much.
haven’t got my pack yet. this is going to be my first race. can someone tell me what to expected when I get there, do I need to register with the race organisers when I arrive.what time am i best to get there.
Gavin, if you've already registered then you will soon (like the rest of us) receive your race pack with your number. You won't need to register on the day but after running last year I would advise you to arrive as early as possible to avoid the crush of cars trying to get in.
rang up the head office yesterday to enquire about when they would be sending out the race packs and they told me they will be going out from monday onwards . hope this info puts a few people's mind at rest ( including mine ! ).
Hi Anyone any idea of how many runners will be taking part this year? It's not on the same day as reading like last year but they have added the liverpool half so I think numbers might be well down (6334 finishers last year) Cheers
Hi folks got my pack Saturday, was wondering when it would come! Anyone else plodding round in 11m/m pacing group - I'll look out.... Fantastic paced run on Saturday in Richmond Park - anyone else there?
Lucy Lu - I should be around the 10 min mile mark only started running in January - but have run 10k races most weekends since Jan so should be ok. Hope the addrellin and atmosphere will keep me going! Am coming from Bournemouth with a friend. Anyone know how long it is likely to take. Thinking seriously about driving up night before and staying over.
Hi slow mover (from an even slower mover!) Its gonna take 3+hours from Bournemouth I reckon, particularly slow once off motorway!! I'd go up night before, we are!..
Hello all Apologies if this has been asked before, but does anyone know what the exact pacing groups are going to be? Everywhere I look it just seems to say "to be confirmed". I'd quite like to know whether I'm going to have to pace myself or whether I can be lazy and leave that up to someone else!
Hi chaps - glad I won't be the only one at the back. Just come back from my running club and opted for running up hills for an hour instead of my normal steady run! No pain no gain but now my calfs are hurting! Oh well it was a good idea at the time. Will try and persuade my friend to go up the night before - good advice I think. Thanks.
hkp, fancy joining the 11m/milers? Seem to be the slowest on this thread so far!! Did longest run yet on Sunday (Richmond Park) and really enjoyed the pacing, Silverstone will be my first half, but really excited! Have read that there will be a run walk group somewhere tho - have 2 friends hoping to be in it, so hope it is happening!!!

Would def suggest staying over, I'm coming up from Margate and stopping overnight, would be too tired if I didn't!

Read in Aprils Runners World that pace groups will be 8/9/10/11 m/m.
Good luck!!
8 m/m was what I was looking for, so I'm happy.
