    Hey gang,

Just popping in to say 'hi'!  Hope all's well with everyone and running & WWing going well.

Been very short of time this past year, work's been - um - intense.  So I've not bothered unduly about what I weigh or  what I eat.  I didn't get around to joining my local WW either - can't spare the hour nor the fiver each week image

Oh, I bought a house and now I do stuff like gardening and that.  Can't name a single plant, though, I say 'the blue poppy-type thing' or 'the ones that look like giants leeks'!  Raining today so the only available leisure activity is a trip to the M&S food shop.   Yum.

Sorry, missed the birthday before.  Happy Birthday  anyway, NSC.

Yep. still teaching - hence, no time to call my own.

Am feeling all proud of myself  cos I cut the grass earlier this evening.  It'll never catch on but  I love the amateurish, bits-I-missed look.  Very rustic.  With the sunshine & all, got a bit warm mowing so it must count as exercise.  All being well, will walk to work next week - a mile each way, uphill on the way home - but only two days as am going into hospital for tests later this week.  Only for a new consultant double checking on the colitis. They're looking for coeliac, too.  Totally couldn't handle that, no bread, no pasta, no cake image

Am going to go get comfy for the Nancy results show.  Have a good week all.

Hello everyone ... it IS quiet in here.  Nice to see you back Scoobs!

I'm sorry I've not been on here lately.  Been working away from home and also had a migraine this week so all reasons (a) not to run and (b) not get on t'internet!image

Hope to get back to a longish Sunday run, though, if I feel better.  Have been improving slowly, but it takes time ...

Haven't been on Fetch for about a year ... like you, MrsF, I'd feel a bit of a fraud over there now!

Hi to Scrum, Laura, JB & Minty - and belated happy birthday to nsc! image

    WAKEY WAKEY THREAD!  image

I could have sworn I popped in to wish NSC a happy birthday but now I can't see it.  Sorry honey, hope it was a good one.

Nice to see Scoobs and EB - strangers!!!  Hang around - it looks like we need all the input we can get!

Meeting with school counsellor last week went well and I'm hopeful that it will prove useful for LM.

I've had some bad news though.  My step-mum's been in hospital since before Easter.  She'd had some mini strokes but was making a good recovery and they were trying to put some care in place before sending her home.  On Thursday she had a fall in hospital and broke her hip.  They went to operate on her yesterday to give a hip replacement but discovered what they think is bone cancer and cancelled the operation.  Not good.  I'm quite low about that.  I hate being so far away.  I will pop and see her this week but I wish she was just up the road.  image  Sorry to be so glum.

    Hope you're all well anyway.

    xxxxxx

    Yippee a Thread wedding image

Am home alone for the next 4 days, well apart from middle son who's in and out occassionally.  Hubby and littleun are in Spain til Friday.  Enjoying every moment at the minute and pleasing myself.  Cleaned house yesterday and its still cilean!!

Meeting up with friend in mo for coffee and chin wag then going hunting for something to unblock the ruddy toilet with typical blocks as soon as other half out the country!

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

Meetings at my house tonight so haven't got to venture out in the rain image

Well happy soggy day folks unless you live up north and you'll be enjoying the sunshine image

Thanks for the hugs folks.  I guess it's going to be a roller coaster ride from hereon in.  Nothing happening until the specialist returns from his bank holiday tomorrow.  Then they can start scanning and properly diagnosing.  Until then, all we can do is keep everything crossed for a more positive outcome.

Bagsy me be thread bridesmaid.  Woohoo.  Congratulations Scrumptious.  Lovely to hear some good news.image

The cure for our blocked toilet was a new toilet Mrs F.  That's not very helpful is it?  You can buy powerful unblockers that dissolve whatever is blocking the toilet but mine was  build up of limescale over the years and new loo was the only solution. Try the unblocker with a plunger.

Off to see Indiana Jones this afternoon as part of a mystery shop.  Isn't that great?  We get paid to go and see it.  Not a lot - but it covers the cost of the journey, the tickets and the popcorn.  Can't be bad.

  • Options

The plunger worked Mints he he thanks.  Think is was a build up of pebbles to be honest.  Yes pebbles!  My dog does his business on the small bit of shingle we have at the bottom of the garden (its there for decoration inbetween the sleepers we have as steps).  So when you pick it up with a shovel you get the stones also.  I've always turfing them out the bottom of the pan (the toilets in the utitility room btw not upstairs!) and it is laziness to not go get a poo bag.  Well today laziness cost me £4.99 for a plunger image

Mixed feelings about Indiana, we went and thought it was good, middle son went and thought it cr*p (his words not mine) so be interested t6 what y64 th5n2.  Whats ha--ened t6 0y 2eyb6ard 5ts n6t ty-5ng -r6-er3yimage

LOL @ your keyboard Mrs F.  You really know how to cheer me up.  PMSL  I hope it recovers overnight.  Glad you got your loo sorted.  £4.99 for a plunger is good - the ones I looked at were much more expensive for some reason.

I thought Indiana Jones was boring at first but once the action got going, I loved it.  I loved the romance too, especially between two older people.  It gives me hope.

Talking of which .... I did meet a guy last weekend.  He's a bit older than me but really, really nice in a John Thaw kind of way.  He seemed to like me and was falling over himself to agree with everything I said which was really very sweet.  He invited me round for a cup of tea last Sunday morning and I went and when I got chatting to him some more, I decided I really did like him.  He said he'd come and look at my garden with a view to doing some weeding for me.  That was it.  I've never heard from him again.  Bliddy typical!  Do you think he's gone off me already?

I thought I'd never get any more romance in my life.  Last weekend there was a glimmer and now I'm left wanting more.  I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

That was bloody wierd my keyboard, I had to do a complete system restore via Spain because I had no idea how to do it, so hubby was on other end of phone talking me through it.

Aw bless Mints that sounded a beautiful friendship at first.  You could always pop a note through the door asking if he's ok, he perhaps didn't pick up on your vibes and thinks he might be moving too fast and doesn't want to scare you off or he lacks confidence and thinks would a younger woman really like someone like me.

Loving every minute of singledom and pleasing myself, my house is still tidy!!!

Double work today then coffee with girlie friend this afternoon, then cracking nights tv, so much on I'm going to have to record the programmes that clash with each other.

Great to have someone else to chat to on here, keep coming back you lotimage

  • Options

I was thinking the same thing Mrs F (about the note).  I just emailed my friend who was with me when we met him and told her that I've spent the whole week planning my future of champagne, long walks in the country and a bearded collie called Molly (his sister breeds them).  <Sigh>

I thought I could just drop a note round saying that I enjoyed meeting him and was worried that he might have popped round re the garden whilst I was out (which I usually am).  Then I could give him my number.  What do you reckon?

I can't believe I'm posting this on the www!!!!

I really need to tidy up.  It could be that he popped round, looked throught the window, saw the mess and decided I was a complete liability.  I'd better go and tidy before I drop the note through his door.

LOL you have a great sense of humour Mints image

Go with your gut feelings, I think it sounds a great idea, its the truth and feasible..... you've got nothing to lose.
