Rowan, (can't call you RB...that's me!), I'm doing Bath Half for first time this year. I'd not realised it is two laps. My first marathon was Cardiff a couple of months ago, another two lap course, but that didn't bother me.
HY4, good luck with the job hunt!!
Can anyone recommend good, not too expensive accommodation within easy reach of the start? (I'm just being lazy...I could look at the official web site/maps, etc, but prefer getting answers on here!!)
Thanks Silent White Hippo......bum bag it is then and plenty of gel
Is any one following the Garmin training plan, I intend to do this one on the sub 4.30 hour schedule with an eye to completing the marathon in around 4 hours
Hi all, Never done a full marathon before.Have done 2 halfs though (does that count?)Rejected again by FLM (I'm not bitter)bas@**ds Thinking of running Halstead or Stratford not sure which is suited to marathon virgin. Anybody out there done both????????
Hi Jenni....and well done! Did my first marathon a couple of months ago (Cardiff): it's fun in a weird kind of way....
Hammer time, yes 2 halfs definitely count as a full marathon, or at least that's what my five year old thought after I'd completed my second HM earlier this year. Not sure about Halstead versus Stratford, though Mark Foster on page 2 above clearly has strong feelings on the subject. I rather fancied Lochaber and am still trying to persuade myself somewhere an hour away from home really IS more sensible!
I've had the same decision to make. I've decided on Stratford for 2 reasons. I'm quick enough to meet the cut of time for the first lap cut off time and I won't have to pay for accommodation as we can stop at either my parents or Chris'.
Hi All Still cant make my mind up if to do this one or locabar in fort william? Ilive in Bletchley Milton keynes so sense would say this, But locabar sounds so nice, but will cost a lot in travel and accomodation. Understand drinks are in cups which i hate for this race, and no lucozade stops. ps this will be my first marathon after serving my half marathon apprentiship of 7 halfs with a pb of 1.43. WITH MY BEST HALF TIME WHAT WOULD I EXPECT TO FINISH THIS FULL IN?
My HM pb is 1:43 too, and I did my first marathon this Oct in 3:39. BUT, my HM pb was 5 weeks before the mara, and 5 minutes quicker than my previous HM time of 1:48, which I ran just before I started mara training, so maybe you'd be on line for a faster marathon time than me.
I heard somewhere recently as a rule of thumb, double HM time and add 10 mins...
I bet Lochaber is a faster course than Stratford too, but I don't think there's any lucozade north of the border either :-(

There is a half marathon cut-off time for this marathon?
Sounds like it's going to be an expensive day. Good job I won't have to pay for accommodation as we'll stop with either Chris' parents or my parents
