Guys if it was a tosds up between stratty or lochaber, id go for locahber everyitme
and they are providing lucozade there this year(previously you could leave ou you own energy drinks) locahber is flatter and faster than stratty and prettier
VERY tempted...It's only the journey that puts me off. How do you all get there? Does the forum have its own chartered jet (!!) or do people all trek up by train? (Unless they already live in Scotland of course...)
Hi I am doing the half marathan. I am not sure what the cut off point was for the half and I have read that it was 2hrs 15, 11.8 mils. Is this true?
I have been on the website and all I can see is that its 2hrs 25 mins cut off for the marathan runners. I thought that this didnt matter for the half. I did fill in a predicted time for finishing the course and it was way over 2hr 25. Can someone please advise? Thanks
My training is going okay at the moment. I'm following Shades' plan. I'm just feeling really hampered with how the weather has been so far and with the other things going on I've only done the long runs from the plan. However I am making up for the weekday runs by cross training.
When I did my half in October I was having a wee bit of a panic trying to see if I could meet the cut of time especially as I missed about 6 weeks training 8 weeks before I had the half. So I was really surprised when I crossed the line with a time which was under the cut off for the whole distance.
Well, as a FLM rejectee, and given that I move from Leeds to Warwickshire early in the New Year, this looks a fairly logical choice. Will be a nice warm-up for Windermere in May. Just can't quite decide whether to do the full marathon or just the half, what with starting a new job, moving house etc. Think I might regret it on the day if I only do the half though (then regret it around 18 miles if I do the full ).
I have just entered the full. I am looking forward to some nice slow long Sunday morning runs but not particularly looking forward to those tired cold dark steady mid weeks run after work. Though it will all be worth it in 17 weeks (gulp is it really only 17 weeks and 2 days away?!)
Time to start proper training. Now where are those mince pies...

dont worry if you are doing the half
ooh, have the extended the cut off for us then
I have just scoured the stratford website and it said
'There is a cut off time of 2 hrs 25 mins for marathon runners completing the first lap and 6.00 hours for completing the course'
Glad I could bring some good news, its always nicer to have less pressure even though you might not need the full 2hr 25
Thank YOU for pointing out the cut off
its much better than the original 2.15
the organiser has listened to us
that wonderful
I might even enjoy this marathon now

Hippo - 2.25 for the first half is faster than 2.15 for 11.8..lol
the first LAP isnt as long as a half marathon
Im sure they mean 2.25 for 11.8
That's how I was reading it as well.

id better mail the organiser
i HAVE mailed the organiser to say thankyou for extending the cut off
it DOES fill up, cos the FLM rejectees do it
I think last year it was full end feb/beginiing of march
Still, I could always enter this and do FLM as well if I get in!!!
