Anyone doing any of the Fink plans, starting 7/01/13? I am going to follow the intermediate plan and just hope that I can cope with the demands of the swimming program. I should be fine with the running and cycling but I am really struggling with the swimming despite 3 - 4 sessions per week.
If anyone fancies reccying the bike course over the coming months then give me a shout. I am going to give it go over the Christmas / new year period. Fortunately for me I live in Winwick which is not too far from Pennington Flash.
Not that I am a copy cat or anything but we could start a Fink for IMUK 2013 thread.
Yeh i am doing a version/variation of Fink. I have planned weekends as per Fink and kinda moulded my weeklys to suit some club stuff.
I have started already as i needed to allow for for some time away over chrimbo and some buffer time for illness....i have now already used up 4 days with the onslaught of MANFLU in full effect, so hopefully back to it tomorrow!
I know what you mean about swimming, i feel like i have cracked the breathing but still need some more elements to click. I started having a few lessons but the chap went away for quite a few weeks. Will be glad to get some more pointers soon! (But i am deffo in a better place swimming wise than 2 months ago!)
Yep, I'm using Fink Competitive, starting on 7th. Swimming coming along slowly but surely. Coach got in water with us on Thursday and one look at me underwater and she put right some wrongs, went from 28 strokes per length to 22 instantly. Still lots to do...
If i can get to pool tomorrow i will now start counting!
I have counted breaststroke but not front....hopefully 'Farmer (as my youngest daughter calls him!) Christmas' will bring me a 910 and solve the counting problem (bloomin tricky to count strokes in the pool for some reason!).

I'm planning one lap on Sunday morning if you or anyone is up for it
ride outdoors???? in the cold?????? i'll see you all about March.
Cats in for it woody by the way so you'll see us plenty out on the course this year....(though after what was virtually a year off for me you'll have to wait till i catch up)
Bit the bullet and went doctors, now on antibiotics, on the plus side my swim teacher is back on the scene and fingers crossed i should be healthy for christmas!
Sounds good to me Andy. and look forward to it meeting up. Have to agree It's bloody cold! I'm not into winter road cycling but as you know, I don't normally start bike training until summer. This time however I'm determined to give it my best shot with proper training.
DTT - well done mate, I know what that means to you. I to have had a couple of reasonable swim sessions this week. At last I feel as if I am making some progress albeit slow, but progress all the same. It will probably all go t...s up next time I am in the pool, ah ah ah.
Just sorting out my kit for the Tour de Helvellyn, a 38 mile ultra that takes place on Saturday. Weather forecast is looking pretty crap, but it is the Lakes in winter!
Woody, good luck on Sunday, I will be interested to know how you found the course.
Tyler, better to have the lurgy now than at a time in the coming months. Wishing you a speedy recovery mate.
Wishing you all the very best for the festive period.
Ultra went well, weather was wild and wet and the conditions underfoot were atrocious. A top day out though and I was in some great great company. I'm off for a swim this morning, can't say that I am looking forward to it.
New years resolution - try to be more positive about swimming and enjoy it!!

Please don't ask me to count as well as breathe, catch, pull, rotate, oh and do 4 beat kick keeping my feet togther.
On a serious note, well done DTT a massive instantaneous gain.
Tyler, good to hear that you are on the road to recovery. Pleasing to note also that your swimmimg is improving.
A very interesting 8 months to follow, for us all, with plenty ups and downs in prospect.
Yep, it's going to be fun, really looking forward to it.

Woody2run, would love to join you, but I'm afraid that I am working on Sunday. Have a good run out.

TT Hope things pike up soon.
Great swim last night, 400m crawl without stopping, a real breakthrough. And now, a mince pie.
And well earned
Only one ... ?

Good luck Steve, an Ultra is on my bucket list.
Would be great to hear how 38 miles fares, fingers crossed for the weather.
Cheers Steve and same to you. If my IM experiance is anything to go by you will do well in Bolton with your strong running base.
Thanks everyone. I will let you know how I get on.
Managed to crack a nice 41.6mph downhill section, which was in a word...ace!
Merry christmas to all bonkers, and happy new (8 months of training) year!!
Wishing you all the very best for the festive period.
