Ironcat5, its a circa 1988 / Team Z~greg lemond era c-record 8 spd, 12-23 block. I just found the original cogs in the loft so if I can find the alignment chart, I have 11-23 to choose from. front is 42/52
I replaced the downtube shifters with veloce brake/shifters when they came out.
SO, is that really a possibility - change the block and chain ? and 10spd is to be had for tuppence ?
You're putting in the time SD. It'll be interesting tonight for SPOTY.
Sgt: sounds like my bike when I got it. Does your block screw on or slide on? Do you have the 10spd shifters ready? 42/52 is very meaty, especially with a 23 at the back!
Finally, after being floored by the bubonic plague for the past 10 days and having done the grand total of 30 minutes running in the preceding *muttermuttermumble* weeks, training has started. Wooooooo hooooooo! I am feeling quite excited. 30 mins in the pool yesterday, just been for a 30 min run and will turbo tonight.
Shopping all done. Have given the plan a wee shuffle so today is now my rest day, which will be put to good use wrapping things. Also, it means I don't have to go out in the bloody horrendous weather we're having here. I know, I know.............HTFU.
All shopping done, wrapping done night before yesterday, sons nursery xmas nativitiy this morning and last afternoon at work today starting to feel like xmas. I'm going to get my long ride in tomorrow, long run Sat, then its running club xmas party sat night, pool and bowling with the lads sunday while the women "catch up" and then its the big ho ho ho, two very exited toddlers in our house
Hi everyone ... still hoping to train over the silly season, but it'll be less structured. Had a great swim this week, 400m without stopping which is a MAJOR improvement, dead chuffed. Swallowed half the pool. Went home and had cake and beer.
Have a great Chrismas everyone, and a happy 2013. I'm looking forward to Jan 7th (first day of my Fink for IMUK .... a rest day!)
Evening all. Pressie shopping all done. Just got to get the veggies for christmas day lunch.
Restarting park runs on Saturday. May go for a couple of rides if the weather is ok over christmas.
I've switched my rest days to the Fridays Tim. Means i can incorporate the clubs coached swim session. Also, by the time i get to Friday after a weeks work, i do like to chill. Never feel too motivated on that day.
Great Swim as well mate, well done. Couple more and i bet you'll just be able to keep going without even thinking about it.
Nice swimming Tim .. its all coming together innit !!
I swam too but only to record a 200 time for WInterswim (I did some more as well) but feel like I am coming down with a cold so the energy levels were a bit low
Another day off tomorrow and then back to work for the weekend
Lovely 4-hour ride around flooded Cheshire today with Muffin. Felt like a real treat, even if we did come back looking like we'd been mountain biking. Some seriously, seriously twatty car drivers around though . Always seems to be the case in the run-up to Christmas. What's the rush, folks? Asda's not going to run out of mince pies and eggnog, ffs! Let's be careful out there, folks xx

Ive not invested yet, as i was thinking wheels, chain. Shifters and deraileurs
Cogs slide on with spacers. I have to align the cogs usign the letters on the cogs themselves
Ive read elsewhere that the 8spd cannot be upgraded?
Hmm...If it was Shimano then 8/9/10 is compatible, but I don't know about Campag. SheldonBrown.com may have some info.
Morning All,
Got drenched this morning on the bike, but at least it wasn't icy.
Always be positive mate !!!
Trying my best to be.
Day one of Paris marathon training.............. and it's a rest day !
That sounds like my sort of training plan.
Why do you think I picked it ?
I'm back in action! I'll just repeat what I posted on the Outlaw thread
Welcome back Nursey
Thank you mentor
You are on my list of people to contact .... I seem to be chasing my tail this week and I am not even doing the 'christmas thing'
I shall redress the balance by going to the gym tomorrow
Sounds ominous.........................
you're in trouble now
I like to live dangerously
Welcome back Nursey stranger, glad your feeling better.
3 mile run for me tonight. Wasnt going to but met Goldie Sayers at work today and was motivated by the talk she gave
It's all gone quiet - I take it that means you are all out shopping?

Good to be back "running".
All the best of the season's joy etc etc to those celebrating. I'm guessing I will over celebrate to the tune of 3 / 4 lbs.....
