Good luck to everyone hope everyone is training hard!!! This is my first half marathon and i cant wait although i am nervous. Currently running 9 miles every sunday at 1hr 35mins is that any good. Does anyone know when you get you pack sent through?
Not bad Mark, you certainly won't be last! I haven't got my pack yet, I think in previous years they have been in the last 2 weeks before the race. Good luck to you and everyone
This is my first half on the way to running for the Berlin Marathon. I was planning to do liverpool but glad I didn't from what I hear. I've got no time in mind but will get a good gauage for Berlin.
Never been to leeds before, whats the price in the pubs then?
Probably going to do this one and Sheffield the week after. Will require getting up fairly early though for the 9:30am start....only a couple of hours away so not too bad and Sheffield can be reached in less than an hour depending on whether I slightly fracture the speed limit.
Events in the past havent caused too many problems with parking actually. Various places near the start- the train station, the light, the market ncp, and also a little known car park near the Palace pub, about 10-15 mins walk fromthe start (cheaper).
Denis-Not too bad??!! What you might describe as undulating. Flattish, then up at about 3-5 miles, then a bit flat, then the ring road (what a drag!!!!) then flat back into town, which actually is really hard work, especially if you run there frequently and know just how far you have got to go!!!!
not looking good for me so far. i aint been out running since liverpool as my calfs strained - hopefully gonna go for a jog tomoz. still gonna enter though!
NSC -it was good. 5:31, an hour slower than I expected but in 30c heat I'm happy with that.
Mark, you're easilly on course to go under 2:30 for Leeds. You'll find being in the race speeds you up in itself.
For this week rest the couple of days before, have plenty to drink up to 2hrs before the race then don't drink again until 5 mins before (so you are well hydrated but dont need the loo during the race). Have a warm up and stretch before the start.
Mark, just rest you legs the week before. I find that if i dont ruin for a few days allowing them to recover and east loads of pasta, then on race day i am good to go.
Drink plenty of water. On race day just try and make sure that you dont start too fast with the crowd, you can always give it a last push at ten miles if you have loads left in the tank!!
Training for leeds, goes well Monday to Thursday, then pear shaped Friday and Saturday, when I say sod it all and go the pub! Anyone else have a yo-yo training approach
Mark-Yes sounds like youll be okay for sub 2:30. You sound about my pace (half pb 2:14:21). Im not expecting to beat my pb at Leeds after recent injury and lifes irritations!! Remember to taper in the week before and eat plenty pasta. Its a fairly big race so plenty of people behind you!!! And of course we will all be there for support!!
Where are we meeting then?
Hoping to get back up to ten miles tomorrow but Ive got some killer blisters, thanks to wearing stupid shoes etc etc. So Im not sure its a good idea!!!
Hey guys, just wondering if anyone has a spare place that they aren't going to use for the Leeds half? ive been informed that its now full but i really wanna do it!! If so please e-mail me! cheers!

Denis- Depends which pub you go to!!!!!
well not knowing leeds I'm well open to suggestions on pubs. Looked at a map of the course and it doesn't look too bad.
So what's parking like for Leeds then?

Be the first run of any distance for over a month so it'll be nice and gentle. Should be pleasant.
what we doing about a meet up?
