It is about 1.5 miles to the stand, maybe less if anything. I know it's over a mile as I've run from the building next to the station down past the race course many times. I could tell you to the nearest tree where a mile marker would be and it not much further than that. Most of the first mile is down hill as well so it will be a nice little warm up! I'm probably going that way today, I can let you know to the nearest 1/100th of a mile if you like!!
On the subject of running numberless, how could this mess up results, surely you would just be ignored?
beetroot - it messed up the results in this case because the marshalls on the finish line simply note down the order of finish times without checking numbers (pretty normal) - i think they have a clicky machine to help them do this. Whatever system they sue they're not looking for numbers. The next lot of marshalls wrote down the numbers in order. They then combine the two lists to give everyone a finish time - if numberless bloke comes in between two people then the timekeepers sometimes don't notice he's numberless - the number takers then discount him so the next person (who might be 2 mins behind, say) gets a time far quicker than they should have.
My number hasn't turned up yet but my husband's arrived on Friday - getting a bit worried now, will have to check my bank statements to be sure that I am actually in!
Looking good for Sunday, tho' I managed to pull a porker during yesterday's 11-mile trail run at Formby Point - still optimistic of making the start line.

Beetroot - no, I guess the only issue could be at a very big race like the Monkey the police might get a bit cheesed off if fifty folk turned up and started running the race in excess of the agreed numbers - but at most races the odd one or two wouldn't make much odds - they're running on public roads after all!
Is it time for a race number list yet on teh off chance one remembers the numbers and then bumps into someone whose number they remember - numerical ascending order please!

cor - some people come along (Northern Exile) and just turn the system upside down!!
My legs are so heavy today. Am I the only person who always feels so underprepared/sluggish in the days leading up to a race, even though I know I've trained well?
