I will look out for you on Saturday, but I suspect you would have a better chance of spotting me. I look nothing like my avatar though - especially when running. On those occasions I'm inclined to sport a puffy, red-faced, sweaty look. If it's as cold as it has been the past couple of days I will also be wearing several layers too!
Just looking at the online info for Saturday at Larne. I'm I right in thinking that number, chip collection is only on Saturday morning? (I was planning on heading down on Friday evening).
If this is the case, can we expect lengthy queues ahead of the run?
Alan B , it has always been collection of numbers on race day and it isn't too bad for queues. I plan to be there for between 11.45am and 12.00pm to give plenty of time to prepare for the race and also to get parked close to the leisure centre.
Did light intervals last night, resting today and might do 4 miles easy tomorrow. Still worried about this leg but hopefully it will be ok once I get into the race mode. Getting a foam roller today and also going to take anti-inflamatories for the next 3 days.
A beautiful morning with sunshine and frosty air. Did 4.6 miles on grass this morning and leg felt a bit better. Anti-inflamatories seem to be working, so hopefully things will go to plan in Larne tomorrow.
The same weather on the coast road tomorrow would be great.
Good luck to all racing this weekend and hope we all go home happy after the race.
hey all, hoping to see a few off the forum at the race tmorrow...best afterwards though as ive managed to pick up a cold in work during the week and havnt shaken it off...seems to be mainly a head cold so i think i can race as normal! hoping the weather stays good, and it heats up a bit!
Weather looks like it's going to be OK (touches wood). Good luck folks at Larne tomorrow - think I'm marshalling at Ballygally head, which is somewhere around the 4.5m and then again the 9m point. Will try to spot as many of you as I can. Look forward to hearing about plenty of PBs.....
Yes-best of luck at Larne tomorrow-hope to hear about lots of pbs next week. Have picked up a cold and sore throat myself-sods law again-after healthy winter! Taking lots of vitamin c.
PLB-enjoy marshalling-at least u get to see the race twice! Rod-ease back on the tablets-dont want Delhi belly!
Good luck to all running 2morrow. Gutted I will miss it due to injury, espically as it is my local and I have run this route many times.
I ran the actual route just prior to my injury and was having a look at my Garmin stats. So for those not to familar with route, expect the following:-
Flat for first 5.1 miles then steady climb from sealevel to 241ft to peak at 7.3 mile mark. Mile 7.3 to 9 is all downhill, then flat for return leg home.
Good luck to everyone today @ Larnee. Great race - great club. Looking forward to seeing B'mena Runner times. BBT has put in a lot of good work @ intervals with everyone. PBs galore hopefully. PS could get warm today.
Starting to get a few results through from Larne. James T from B'mena Runners 1.18 something?? - fantastic and a pb? Jim 1.33 something, Jonny Graham - 1.34? Looking forward to everyones race reports later.
some great running from everybody, looks like a lot of pb's.
Rodney dont get too worried about the time , you aim remember is the marathon. The best time I saw was from one of the ballymena runners ian taggart ran 1;29, which was his first half and I think it has given him the belief that he can get better.
Good talking to you rower
Mags you seemed tired at end hope recovered for your evening watching the rugby.
Oh and i had a poor run was hoping for sub 1;35 but ended 1;38 but hey it was great event. well done larne
Robin / Rodney you both still ran good times and remember the marathon the bigger goal for both of you
Happy enough with my time 1hr 33m knew before hand that i was not in shape for sub 1hr 30 again would like to say i will get it later in the year but with a load of longer races planned dont know if can fit another half in
I think its fair to say with the numbers Larne had today we are in the middle of another running boom which can only be good.
I didn't have a great run today. Finsihed in 2.03 but felt it should have been about 2.30 the way my legs were going. 15 minutes quicker than Larne last year, but over 2 minute slower than Waterside last September.
I can't even use the excuse that I was hit by a car at about mile 10 as I felt so tired way before that. The impact really shocked me though amd I didn't know what to do. No bruising thankfullly, (lots of padding on the point of impact) but the jolt left me feeling sick. Everyone around me was very indignant but what could we do?
Anyway, like I said, that was nothing to do with my poor run today. I might have started out too fast, not sure. My legs just felt like concrete.
Big well done to all those who ran, especially those who got PB's. And yes, I still enjoyed the rugby and wine afterwards.
Oh, and I actually got to see PTB in real life. That has to be my highlight of the day.

LOL PTB .

C75 - Glad that it's not the man-flu again .
C75, I just noticed on Fetch that you were in the Larne and Omagh races but maybe you had put that on a while ago.
Light intervals tonight, another rest day tomorrow and then an easy 4 miles on Friday before the big race.
C75 we have a meeting next Wednesday so should know better. Bridges should be 30 June and Dervock 23 July.

Rodney too much ibuprofen = no stomach lining so take it easy!
PTB you get to marshall before the fun starts on those hills!

Sorry slight correction in stats -
Flat to 5.2 mark - Climb 5.2 - 7.3 miles - decent 7.3 - 8.6 miles - Flat return leg
No big race report from me as it was a bad one. 1:27:06 even though I went through 10 miles in a PB time. Exhausted for last 3 miles.
Noel did 1:21, Ian Taggart, 1:29. Super running from him.
Think I have to race Omagh now to get this one out of my mind.
Good to meet Lisoider today, but he will have to wait a few days for my detailed moan about how my race went wrong today.
Hi Rodney Good meet you.....
You have a lot of miles in your legs so wouldn't get to down hearted, Philip from East Down was the same.
I was well pleased with a 2 min PB 1:27:XX and 5 mins quicker than year
some great running from everybody, looks like a lot of pb's.
