Hi Watervole. I'm from/based in Manchester. I'm a red though ha ha! Well I was until Cantona left, not interested anymore. I've added your races.
Ohh Foxy / Toby - hopefully I'll see you both at Brighton. I think I'm going to do it as I was really aiming for Manchester Marathon, but think I prefer running in places I don't know. Anyway - I'm going to take Brighton very easy and just use it as a training run (as that day I have a 20 mile training run) so may walk the last 6 miles anyway. Hope I'm doing the right thing - think I'll regret it if I don't do it though (and it gives me a chance to visit my mum!). If I don't finish it, then at least I've still done it as a training run and I've already paid for it.

All feels OK, really enjoying it, set up my loft as my own little yoga/pilates den to do my cross training in, listening to some great albums on my long runs (check out Ian Dury's son, Baxter Dury, new album) and feeling OK. Give it a couple of days and I'll be fretting/whinging about something no doubt
Thanks Foxy - I noticed I didn't have a name on the previous post so couldn't remember who I wrote it for originally. Here is the correct list

Good to hear that Jess, and enjoy the Salisbury 10- it is so scenic, lots of "property porn". Loads of spring flowers, especially if this cold spell keeps up. I've done it twice now. A gradual slope up the valley and then back down, via a cheeky hill, into the town. Lovely finish on the athletics track, really helps you Sprint for the line!
Was busy at work earlier today so popping back now I'm at home. I see there's been an awful lot of chatting going on!
To save me some typing - a general 'well done' for the various training runs that have happened.
WV - had a chuckle at last week's l-o-n-g list of kit for winter runs. I see you are now our resident weather guru too! Steak & chips for me as well after a race .. with a cold beer (but always pasta the day before). Had another chuckle at your "dressed in several layers then realise I need the loo" posting - nope, it's not just you!
Susie - had a chuckle at the 'little man syndrome' comment re nasty poster on B&T's thread.
Toby - my treadmill is too big and heavy so moving it into the living room isn't an option for me.
B&T - it IS amazing isn't it how clean trainers are after a session in the washing m/c Hope you've been resting that leg? Wagamamas? We obviously don't exist in the Cotswolds as I've never seen one around here. What sort of food do they do?
Foxy - I see you've answered the question that was in my head too - are RP & JohnFol one and the same? (thought they were - but was never sure). I see you're planning to do Brighton marafun then? (gasp!) Enjoyed the 'Bramley' race report - well done re finish time .. or is that finish times! You could always sell some of those surplus lucozade beans to pay for your new Garmin
Toby - well done re that 20miler last week. Old age? Harrumphhh .. I think you'll find you're a youngster from where I'm sitting.
Jess - nice to 'see' you after a short absence - glad to hear you're well and training going okay. Will let you know when I have actually entered some of the 10k races I'm thinking about at the moment.
Ha - Foxy, a sprint finish might be a bit optimistic for me but I'll give it a go! Really looking forward to it. My mum lives about 5 miles from the centre, and not really had a chance to visit the place properly so looking forward to doing sight-seeing whilst trotting along.
Mel - hope you're well. Look forward to your race entries
I've just heard I've got my charity place for the Great North Run, so all being well I'll make it. I'll add myself to the list anyway. I'm doing it for the Farplace Animal Rescue

Ohh on another note, another good new album tip is 'Poet & The Dreamer' album by Neville Skelly. Very Chris Isaak / Richard Hawley. Lovely to chill out to after you've had a long run xx
Well did the 5 miles yesterday i did them on the treadmill as i just fancied watching the television have 8 to do today as the weathers warmed up a bit i will make the effort to get out for a run to do them?
I had a look back at last year’s 20 mile runs and to be honest the times are not a lot different for last years
Jess & Foxy Lady for the past couple of years some of us on the Brighton thread have met up in the Preston park travel loge the day before if your interested we could arrange to meet up there if you wanted to
Toby, would be great but not sure what time we are coming down as bringing the family and staying out of town with my sister, but would like some pre-match vibe,s so keep me posted.
Recovery run: 4m @9.31mm, done and off for a pampering massage this morning (not a sports one). Hope I can let her touch my calves which are a tad tight this morning. Did a 15min swim last night, safe to say a Tri is still in the "never" category!
Official pics from Sunday. Hope it works..... Either serious or happy but never in pain! Shame no finish shots. But a good selection. the joy of going round twice.
Jess - I do need to get on and decide on which races fit in with my diary - some are part of my club championship! Good news re the GNR place.
Foxy - notice your 'recovery' run was done at a pace I can only dream about Enjoy your pampering massage. Had to disappoint a friend yesterday. She was after a back, neck & shoulder massage and knew I had been studying. Explained I am ITEC qualified but haven't massaged anyone for a couple of years so need to get back up to speed first. BTW - your link seems to be to your thread posting rather than the photos.
WV - look at accountant .. nod .. try not to drool?
*waves* to everyone
Had a great club run last night. Started with the novice (11 mm) group but most dropped off the pace after only a mile. I ran the rest of the run with the one lady who was still going well while the group leader went back to check on the others. We did the long route on our first loop. We chose a different shorter route on our 2nd loop - the rest of the group had stopped after one loop so the leader re-joined us halfway round. That lady and I were well matched pace-wise so I shall look for her next time! Total distance was 5mls and time was 54.26 (10:57m/m) - pace was nothing to write home about but that's my longest run for a while so I'm happy with that.
Good running, RWM!! Im about your pace, for my LSRs!! You will soon get back into the swing of it, and not run long in a while, its hard to get those miles back into your legs again.
Im out for 3.50 miles slow today, part of my taper. I always feel I should be running MORE in the final week, bit like revising for exams isnt it... cramming it in before the Big Day. Calf feeling tight and manky. Now not snotty . Amazing how one gets so self-obsessed in Race Week.
Mr Vole brought me some nice flapjack for St V day, so that will be crammed into my face at approx 12.15 on Sunday..........................
Rest day here as worked last night. 6 miles yesterday at 10.45 m/m so pleased with that.Think i've lost another pound but weight tends to fluctuate a bit so will just weigh once a week.Have had a couple of people who havent seen me for a while comment that i've lost weight so really pleased.Running i'm sure feels easier
jess, good to see you post, see you've been very busy with your band which is greatI got a ballot place for GNRso hope we can meet up but appreciate very big race.So another to add to race list please.Always wanted to run it,I think more hilly than it looks on TV?.Have booked accomodation(middlesborough) and transfer to and from start/finish,looking forward to it already
FL,saw your photos on FBYou look very fit and yes I can see no pain just enjoyment and concentration.Really well doneMy Garmin was ok yesterday,it was 6 degrees when i ran so wonder whether temp plays a part in battery usage but will have new one in time for marathon as just dont trust it enough for 5hrs+Bday in April so sorted already
WV,must have the wrong acccountanthope you nodded at the right times OH gave me a heart shaped biscuit with my coffee this morning
mel,really pleased you're running again,thats a good time too
AH,did I see that your team are now managerlessnot sure what face to use
Having mass doubts here.... knee niggling away... on the inside at the front, seems to want to give way, and get painfil twinge sometime... is it me being paranoid about tapering....
Not a lot you can do, RICE? See how it feels on the day. Race day adrenaline may see you through. Looks like a cold weekend. Think I'll be packing all the kit I own!
well 8 miles done yesterday i decided to some hill training so ran what i thought was a 4 mile out and back course that took me up the A38 towards Bristol airport but by the time i got home it turn out to be nigh on 9 according to the Garmin
The whole run took 1:26:01 with the Avg pace of 9.39 m/m mile 4 was slow at 11:10 but that was on the long steep climb so am i am really pleased about it
The first half of the route is all uphill the good thing is it all down on the way back
Good going for a hilly course, Toby, you must be pleased with that, its jolly hilly round there (Mr Voles brother lives ound there). Im always in two minds as to whether to delete the laps which are a slower mm because of a hill or something, but then you lose the mileage! I keep a tally of my weekly mileage and mm, in fact I write all my runs down , except the so-bad-they-are-awful ones which get deleted straight off!!
Knee a bit twingy, I think Im paranoid. Ignore me. It will be cold this weekend but prefer that to the heat! (What heat?) (oh yes, the heat we have in Summer!!)
WV- I'm sure you'll be fine on Sunday. Looking lovely out there today and I'm trying to persuade myself to go out on the bike for some fresh air and cross training...... I know once I'm out there I will love it, about 12 miles off road but possibly very muddy in some places. Need to wrap up as looks breezy...
Very true Toby, and I did get out there. Just over 10miles of off road biking. very hard going in places due to the muddy porridge. Both me and bike needed hosing down. Also heading up the gym for some arms and core work so treating myself to some mini-marmite rice cakes and a large diet coke. Gosh we know how to live.
Glad I went when I did as was gloriously sunny and now grey and miserable looking.
FL,sounds like a great bike ride.I'm not a biker though, think its buried somewhere in the garageOff-road biking sounds good funreally like rice cakes will have to try the marmite ones.Anyone tried the phillidelphia cheese with chocolate yet?
WV,hope you ok.Maybe you knee is just telling you that it needs some rest? Some Ibuprofen is good to take away any inflammation, sure you'll be ok
toby, good running.i think I know that hill out of Bristol towards the airport, wow its quite steep so well done
8 easy miles this morning.Kept it very easy as broken sleep last night(HL2 sleepover friend was missing his mummy at 1.30am)so took 90 mins but effort wise very pleasing to feel it felt so easy
Yes Susiebe Managerless - WV I was gutted Sunday night to lose like that against your enemy is a terrible feeling - but its only Footie.
Had a day out at Cadbury world on Monday and on return to home our telephone pole was knocked onto the floor - haven't got a clue what happenend but main thing noone was hurt. BT - have managed to connect us today temporary before the new pole is erected.
Notice some good running going on.
WV - You are suffering from the taper. You'll be fine.
Well 5 miles yesterday and as i had to set the treadmill up for the wife decided to do them on that while watching a film rest day today with 14 tomorrow
Off to meet my sister and friend and respective children today at a garden centre for lunch which is half way between our homes. Will be back home in time for 6 miles later this pm
FL,have a great time.A pyramid session already and all i've done is moved from bed to kitchen
WV,hope you okWeather conditions look good for Sunday
Coo--eeeeee... Im back..... Virgin server down for 24 hrs..... how they get it back is anyones guess, but it was working when we tried to get back on this am.
So........ yes...... tapering..... hate it..... not doing another race where I have to taper..... knee horrid... doesnt like not running I think. Well, hope. A post on the RW said I might have medial collateral ligament damage or something... but it just doesnt seem THAT bad... having looked at web, dont think it is.
I probably have too much time NOT running to start to fiff-faff-fret all the time...... All my legs (well, both of them!) feel crap all over. Whinge moan grumpy, Mr Vole cant wait til the race is over. My brotheri s coming down from Manchester and is running it, so will be filling our face together on Sunday lunch time, cant wait for running to get back to normal.
Nice to hear of everyone when I did get back on this am. Anotherhill.... are you getting Curbs?? Great if you are!! Good win for the Blues last night hurrah!

well 8 miles done yesterday i decided to some hill training so ran what i thought was a 4 mile out and back course that took me up the A38 towards Bristol airport but by the time i got home it turn out to be nigh on 9 according to the Garmin
The whole run took 1:26:01 with the Avg pace of 9.39 m/m mile 4 was slow at 11:10 but that was on the long steep climb so am i am really pleased about it
The first half of the route is all uphill the good thing is it all down on the way back
Foxy Lady love the photos
Great run Toby!
I'm going.,......
Hi all
FL,sounds like a great bike ride.I'm not a biker though, think its buried somewhere in the garageOff-road biking sounds good funreally like rice cakes will have to try the marmite ones.Anyone tried the phillidelphia cheese with chocolate yet?
WV,hope you ok.Maybe you knee is just telling you that it needs some rest? Some Ibuprofen is good to take away any inflammation, sure you'll be ok

8 easy miles this morning.Kept it very easy as broken sleep last night(HL2 sleepover friend was missing his mummy at 1.30am)so took 90 mins but effort wise very pleasing to feel it felt so easy
