Well, the sun is out and the wind is blowing a chilly one. For all those travelling down, safe journey. For all 'locals' like myself, hope its not too cold out. Hopefully see you all tomorrow. I think I know what/who to look out for by the Pyramids. Green wave for me, so should be good.
I have just been over there doing the GSR mini race with my 6 year old, very windy! hope the wind changes direction otherwise it will be first part into a head wind and the last 2 into a head wind, it was nice and sunny and once warmed up it was fine
Hi Zoe - sorry to 'rain on your parade' but tomorrow's gonna be cloudy ('white cloud') and cold (7-8deg), with light rain later (6-ish) according to BBC. Not much sign of the sun getting thru'
I might wear long sleeves and gloves unless there's a change in the forcast.
yeh got scampi and chips for dinner Theres a little Italian just down the orad thinking i might try that. Rositas in Southsea, just going to pop out and check it out. Think there are a few others around too.
Its a wee Mexican for us tonight.. Chicken fajitas etc - then kids in bed sharp so I can get ready for tomorrow. Extra hour in bed as well, not that my two know what that means!
ah wondered what you were on about then GF, then read back, lol. All i can say is the orads are pretty busy, lots of people out and about in the bars having fun. Checked out the Italian, looks ok, and reasonable price.
Best advice is enjoy the occassion (which maybe a bit more difficult than normal with the cold, but sure the crowds will still be out to cheer us on.
And if you look back through this forum you'll find I really shouldn't say this , but save some engery for the last two miles especially as the forecast is for a 10mph Westerly wind !!!!!
Thanks Nelly. I'm so nervous, I don't know what's wrong with me.
Stupidly I've not trained in long sleeves or a jacket, so I have a top and my charity vest leggings, and gloves. I've been told to take a bin bag whilst I'm waiting in my group? To throw away?
Sarah don't worry, you're not the only one who is really really nervous I am too! I'm stressing out because I've got a cold, not been able to run for the last 2 weeks..
sarah have u got an old jumper/top that u no longer want?
its my first time as well but somewhere in earlier replies said about wearing an old top while waiting for start and then disguarding it before u start, a clothing charity then collects it all
I went to charity shop this morning to buy a one, as I have had a clear out in summer and throw all old stuff out!!
and yes i am nervous! butterflies in stomach lol so excited but... never going to sleep tonight. I have had so much support and well wishes from people I don't want to let them down or me (if that makes sense)
Good luck to everyone running tomorrow. Have a good run. It's a great course and great atmosphere.
Not running this year due to ongoing illness, but do remember doing it one year and the wind was carrying the water over the seawall aong last bit by Royal Marine museum. That was funny!! If it helps, have also park in city centre car parks and walked to start, 20 mins or so and good getaway after.
Thanks guys. Glad im not the only one! I'm sure I'm going to enjoy it, but just first time nerves. I'm trying to get the running bug, but it's just taking longer to catch it..!
Thanks for the tip about an old jumper! Ill do some hunting tonight!
Just to get round will be a big achievement for me!

Dave I think long sleeves and gloves are a given, for me it's a case of do the legs come out or not
Long sleeve t, gloves, compression shorts and shorts for me tomorrow I think. Will make a call on my base layer under my t in the morning.
I did the GSR in 2008 when it rained and was freezing, that is the worst race I have ever done, I have always thought since nothing could be that bad!
I will be wearing maybe long bottoms and vest, I get too hot running!
I actually dont mind rain, its the wind I dont like!
Actually Nelly, that's a useful comment. Its only my second event, so not too sure about attire. Sleeves/gloves it is then!
And being a running noob, I dont even have these 'running tights' to which some have referred. Not yet anyway, but the shops are still open.
Just spicy chicken and chips/rice. Protein and carbs right there.
I'm in the white wave, when do u reckon I need to be there? Don't want to get there too early as it's supposed to be freezing cold!
Karlsp - watch out for those orads in Southsea! I'll soon be there so we can tackle them together!
Good luck to everyone for tomorrow. Enjoy it! Whatever the weather!

Got my nephews 18th party tonight so will have to play the "old git" uncle card and leave early and do my best to avoid anything but watrer
First time runner, for charity, and for aome reason a complete nervous wreck about tomorrow.
I'm hoping for 2hrs 15 (to give you an idea of how slow I am) and I'm just hoping to get round.
I'm in the green wave, and going to get there for about 10, walking for Portsmouth Harbour. Sound reasonable?
Any advice gratefully received!
Sarah
